Its gentle plucks of strings seemed to ripple through the air, following the currents of the wind before fading again into the distance. To the unknowing ear, it would be nothing more than a passing moment, a soft melody carried by the breeze. But for those who listened closely, it called them—beckoned them to seek its origin, like the tempting smell of a pie cooling on the windowsill, coaxing them with the promise of something more. If one followed the ethereal tunes long enough, they would eventually come upon a clearing where the dew clung to the grass in delicate crystals, shimmering in the pale light of the morning. There, sitting on an ancient stump of a once-mighty tree, was Diamond. She was a vision of peace and focus, her eyes closed as her hooves danced across the strings of a harp that seemed almost unreal. The instrument was there, but it was like a shimmering wisp, a faintly glowing version of a full-sized harp, as though the music itself had manifested it into being. The strings hummed and resonated with a life of their own, each note a perfect reflection of her concentration and intent. Diamond’s presence was both serene and captivating, as though she had become one with the music. The roads lay barren of travelers, the usual throng of eager listeners absent until next month, when the tides of time would once again bring movement and stories to the land. She seemed unaware of the changeling at first, lost in the delicate dance of her fingers across the strings and the rise of her voice, weaving seamlessly into the symphony she played. Her song, haunting and rich with history, enveloped the air. But then, in a fleeting moment, her left eye opened, casting a soft, knowing glance in the direction of 'Sprout.' A brief pause in her movement, a subtle acknowledgment, before she returned to her song—her gaze, her rhythm, all flowing together as if nothing had happened at all. Her lips curled into a faint smile, serene and unbothered. Her silvery-white mane caught in the wind, flowing in a shimmering cascade, dancing around her like the very breeze had decided to take form. It twirled in a vortex of ethereal light, sparkling like a thousand delicate jewels or the flutter of unseen wings. Fairies, perhaps, that only she could see. Or perhaps, they were the very essence of her song, manifesting in the air, giving life to the music that rose from her soul. Then, without warning, she spoke, her voice a gentle lilt, her accent unmistakable, yet faint: "Velcome, schtranger. Haf you kome to rest undt enchoy mein vork?" Her words were soft, but they carried the weight of something much older, something beyond the reach of the present. A quiet chuckle escaped her lips, a sound that seemed to twirl with the notes of her song as she resumed, "Tales, I singkt. Ballads uff adfenturers, memoirs uff zose uff old. I trafel ze lents undt schare mein art to all vho schare in mein delight." Her gaze never wavered as she continued, her voice a stream of timeless melody, drawing from some deep well of stories untold, waiting for an audience to share them.
