Perhaps look up the people group you associate with your bunnies, and look up the word Rabbit.
Maybe Greek or Latin or something. Ancient Egyptian ?

How about...Androryctolan? ("Andros" is greek for human, and Oryctolagus is the genus of European rabbit.)
Ehhh.....too scientific. I mean it could be their science name, like homosapiens is ours? But I dunno about their social name.
Lepped, the combination of the Latin word for rabbit (lepus) and the suffix for bipedal animals(-ped).
