//CA died on me when I tried to post this regularly, and I'm not willing to type it out again.
After 32 hours on shift, Asuka is finally able to go home, and get some sleep. While walking from the tram to her house one may be forgiven for mistaking her for a zombie. Her eyes are bloodshot, sullen, and unmoving. Her hair is disheveled, frayed, and caked with dirt, soot, and blood. Then, there was her uniform. Once a spotless white. Now it's more of a light gray.
Asuka's feet can barely move enough to get her up the stairs to the second floor, where the main living area is. She fumbles with her key for a moment before managing to unlock the front door, and head inside. When she enters, she's greeted by the sight of her brother sitting on the couch, playing some sort of game on his switch. The moment the door opens, he lowers his switch, and gives her a smile. "Hey Sock. Rough day today?"
Without words, Asuka collapses onto the couch, and begins to sob uncontrollably.
So many bodies. So many innocent people, burned alive. The smell. Oh god the smell! It was on her uniform now. It kept her on the verge of vomiting constantly. And the cries. All the cries. The victims, onlookers, distraught family members. She could still hear the mothers crying out for their sons and daughters. the few who survived broken under the weight of the situation, and the many first responders of whom she's sure many will leave their careers behind.
Asuka's thoughts are interrupted by a warm feeling. Her brother has wrapped himself around her in a close, but comfortable hug. Without saying a word Nar remains in the hug until Asuka sobs herself to sleep. Then he picks her up, and carries her to her room to change her out of her uniform, and put her to bed.
