Nar, and the 6 Wingmen

Fall, 2018, Vanhoover. It's a cool, Saturday night in Vanhoover. A group of 8 young adults enter a small skating rink just after the sun has gone down. The group consists of Asuka, Juno, Nar, and his group of friends from the Northern Adventurer's League. Usually, Nar didn't spend much time with the Adventurer's League, and his Band together, but tonight was a special occasion. It was Nar, and his girlfriend Amy's 2 year anniversary, but they still weren't super serious about their relationship. Yeah, they were dating, and they called each other boyfriend and girlfriend, but they really haven't gotten past the hand-holding, and hugging stage yet. Neither of the two were really bold enough to take that next step, and get to second base. After two years of this, the Adventurer's League has finally decided to step in, and help move things along between the two. After enlisting the help of Nar's bandmates, the group had formulated a plan. They suggested a night at the skating rink on a day that just so happened to line up with their anniversary. When Nar asked them why that day specifically, they mentioned everyone's schedules lining up, and everyone needing a bit of stress relief. He bought it without question. As the group gets their skates, and prepares to hit the rink proper, they are relieved to find they're the only guests tonight. Nar always has a habit of showing off when skating, and they didn't need him accidentally running into someone, and getting them kicked out. With a playlist of 80's disco playing over the speakers, the group files out onto the rink. Notably, Nar is the only one in the group wearing in-line skates. He'd probably have worn his own pair if the rink didn't have a strict 'no outside skates' policy. The instant Nar's skates hit the wood, he takes off. The rest of the group begins their moderately paced laps around the rink, while Nar speeds past them every 10 seconds. Asuka shares a look with Tipps, a gryphon, and the two move in close to begin plotting. "We knew he'd do this the moment he hit the rink. Question is, how do we stop him?" Tipps muses to Asuka, just before Nar makes another pass. "He's hardheaded, but he's not a total asshole. I got this." Asuka waits for Nar to come around for another pass before she calls out to him. "Hey, blockhead! You know we came here to skate TOGETHER right?!" At this, Nar initiates a powerslide to slow himself down, and match their pace. "Yeah. Yeah. Sorry. I can't help it! You know I like to go fast! You guys are just too slow!" Asuka rolls her eyes. A big stallion in front places a hand on Nar's shoulder, and chuckles. "C'mon man. You skate fast all the time in your free time. Couldn't you slow down for just one night? Besides. It's your anniversary, right? Shouldn't you be spending it with Amy?" At his, the big stallion places his other hand on Nar's other shoulder and gently guides him towards the center of the group, where a young mare is doing her best to just not fall when taking corners. The first words out of Nar's mouth as he approaches his girlfriend are "Hey! You're getting pretty good at this!" The young mare's cheeks flush red, and she waves a hand dismissively. "I'm nowhere near as good as you are though. I know I said I'd learn to skate so we can do it together, but I still get so nervous just trying to turn!" At this, Nar pulls up beside her, and grabs hold of her hand. "Hey, don't worry. I'll make sure you don't fall. You do your best, and I'll be right beside you the whole time, alright?" From behind, Juno, and another one of Nar's friends, a dragon calling himself "The Rock" share a fist pump. That's first base. Now, how do they get them to second base? For the next 20 minutes, the group skates laps around the rink. All the while, they converse, share stories, and comment on the rink's choice of music. However, much to the dismay of their friends, Nar and Amy never do anything more than hold hands. After a while, Austin, the big stallion, suggests the group take a break to get some food at the food court. Just as he knew he would, Nar snaps at the opportunity for some food. The group pulls off of the rink, and heads to the food court. A few orders later, they sit around a set of 3 booths, with Nar, and Amy deliberately placed in a booth by themselves. While they eat, the rest of the group plots. "Alright. So. We're gonna need to think of something else. Neither of them is gonna make a move at this rate." Says Tipps, as she sticks a cheese, and beef coated fry into her beak. Across from her, the 8th member of the group, Andy, seems to survey the rink. "Maybe we could trip Amy, and have Nar catch her?" Suggest The Rock, scratching the table with his claw. Asuka shuts the idea down in an instant. "Too risky. All sorts of injuries that could happen if he doesn't catch her." Next to speak, is Austin. "Well. What if we get them to play some two player arcade games?" The group appears to mumble various degrees of agreement before Juno interjects. "Probably wouldn't work. Nar tends to get pretty into games like that. I doubt he'd really say much to her during them." This is followed by a series of grumbles, and groans. Frustration begins to rise within the group, and they begin to accept the fact that this may have been a total bust. Just as all hope feels lost, Andy snaps his fingers. "Guys. I think I have an idea. We just have to hope the DJ takes song requests." He then stands, and exits the food court. After a short trip over tot he DJ booth, and a quick chat with the DJ, he heads back to the food court, and slides back into his booth. "Alright guys. Plan b is a go." When the group finishes their food, they begin to file back out into the rink. Nar, and Amy take the front this time, with the rest of the group seeming to give them a fair bit of space. As they begin their first lap, Nar looks over his shoulder. He opens his mouth to speak, only for the music to fade, and a new song to start, which causes him pause. At the front of the group, Nar bursts into an energetic dance. He skates in circles around Amy, while doing twirls, kicks, and old school, disco-style moves. All the while, he keeps his focus on her, trying to encourage her to join him. From behind, the group watches with bated breath. Nar's finally making a move. C'mon Amy. Don't ignore him now! After Nar makes a few more circles around Amy, his energy begins to rub off on her, and she finds herself starting to swing her hips from side to side. She starts to shake her arms back and forth in front of her. Her posture gradually loosens, and her moves become more, and more wiggly as Nar starts to match her. Asuka begins to scream internally for Nar to do something more. You're almost there! Don't mess it up now! A hand is extended. Amy looks to her boyfriend's outstretched hand sheepishly. She considers for a moment, then gingerly takes the offer. She lets out a surprised squeal as Nar whips her across his front, and into a twirl beside him. Then, the two twirl, and spin around the rink, with Nar leading, and Amy more or less just letting him do whatever. As they approach a corner, Amy lets out a small squeak, only to once again find herself whipped around to Nar's other side. She almost topples over, but Nar leans in to wrap an arm around her back, and keep her upright through the turn. The two lock eyes. Amy's cheeks flush a deep red. When Nar speaks, his voice is soft, and tender. "Hey. It's okay. I told you I wouldn't let you fall, didn't I?" Behind the two, their friends all silently motion. This is the perfect moment! Come on! Suddenly, Amy grabs the back of Nar's head, and pulls him in. The two lock their lips together for what feels like an eternity. A series of cheers, and whoops goes up from the friends behind them, but neither of the two seem to notice. Eventually, Amy releases her grip, and allows Nar to pull away. No words are spoken. The two simply keep their eyes locked on each other. Even as they right themselves, the two never break eye contact. Nar feels butterflies in his stomach, and his head begins to spin. He can feel himself starting to lose his balance. Uh oh! He can't fall in front of his friends! His public image would be ruined! Nar clears his throat, then looks back to his friends. "Hey guys. I think I'm getting a little hot. I'm gonna grab some water." Beside him, Amy nods in agreement. "Y-yeah. Me too." Both of their cheeks are flush red. From the back of the group, Asuka cups her hands, and shouts "Get a room!" Amy's head ducks into her hands. "Oh!" Nar shoots his sister a death glare. She simply grins devilishly in response. "Alright then guys." Austin claps his hands. "How about we take a moment, then go out, and get some ice cream?" The answer from the group is a resounding "Yes!"
