Friendship Letters

A businessman paces the lobby of his workplace while an office assistant watches from behind the front desk. A small package sits atop the front desk with the word 'PRIORITY' stamped atop it. "The courier will be here soon, sir." The office assistant speaks up. His bosses pacing is really starting to get on his nerves. The businessman wheels around on his heels. "Good! He'd better be as quick as you say the app said he is! We need that package delivered by 1 PM! If it isn't the higher ups are going to have my head on a platter, and I'll make sure YOU go with me!" The office assistant frowns internally. He wants to say 'it's your fault for waiting until the last minute', but he needs to keep his job. Thankfully, the front door opens before the assistant's intrusive thoughts make him say something he'll regret.
The person who steps into the building is not at all who either of the pair were expecting. The newcomer pulls a pair of metal aviator goggles up off of his eyes, and rests them above the brim of a straw hat. The rest of his attire is equally as confusing. An open yellow hawiian shirt over a white undershirt, cargo pants, a satchel over his shoulder, and rollerblades on his feet. "Excuse me sir." The office assistant calls out. "Can we help you?" The man pulls a phone from his satchel. "This is the Edmuns & Sons offices, right?" The office assistant nods. "Yes sir. If you're here for an interview, you'll need to come back later." The man shakes his head. "Oh, no. I'm here for a delivery. Name's Nar Yakushi." The businessman, and office assistant blink at each other a few times. Really? THIS is their courier?!
As Nar approaches the desk, the office assistant holds out the package without thought. The businessman heads to the front door to peer outside. Nar stuffs the package into his satchel, and the businessman turns back to him. "Where's your vehicle?" Nar taps the side of one skate with the back of the other. "Right here." The businessman looks as though he's about to explode at his assistant. "You paid for express, you're gonna get express. I'm not number two for Speed of Delivery for no reason." He begins to pull the front door open, causing the businessman to call after him. "You'd better deliver that package on time, or we're not paying you at all!" Pffft. Yeah right. You're not getting out of the express fee that easily. Nar pulls his goggles back over his eyes before exiting. Stepping out onto the street, Nar pops his earbuds in, and starts up his usual skating playlist.

Soon, Nar is speeding down the streets of Vanhoover. He weaves in, and around pedestrians, cars, and obstacles with practiced ease. If anyone thought to yell at him, they kept it to a low grumble when the figured out who he was. Turning onto one of Vanhoover's main roads, Nar can see that the path ahead is completely blocked. The sidewalk is completely full, and the street is in the middle of rush hour traffic. With a powerslide, he comes to a stop just before slamming into a pedestrian. He raises a hand in apology, then turns, and heads into an alley. He glides over to a blue door marked with a shining white star in one of the side walls of the alley. Opening the door, Nar hops in through a glowing white threshold, slamming the door shut behind him.
His rollerblades touch down on a tile floor, and he quickly kicks their motors on. A cursory glance at his surroundings shows him to be in an impossibly long school hallway. He hurtles down the hallway, eyes searching for another unusual door. At one point, he thinks he sees a high schooler peeking through one of the classroom doors at him. Suddenly, he's hit with an idea for a joke. "Shouldn't be sleeping in class, kid!" He shouts, despite the fact that with his speed, he's well beyond the door the student was peeking from. A flash of blue in the distance catches Nar's attention. He briefly slows down, and sticks a hand out to his left. His hand catches the golden handle of another blue, white star marked door. He throws it open, and hops through the threshold. This time, the door closes itself behind him.
When Nar emerges, he's halfway across the city. He's overshot his destination, but not by too much. He can still make it with well over an hour to spare if he takes the right route. No need to consult his phone. He knows the streets of the city like the back of his hand. Instead of going out onto the main road, Nar ducks through a few alleys, and finds his way out onto a side street. This one is much less crowded, and will give him plenty of space to pick up speed.
A secretary sits at her desk in the lavish lobby of a skyscraper in Vanhoover's central business district. She tends to paperwork on one monitor of her computer, while the other displays a map on a website labeled "Dashmule." A dot moves along the map from one emblem, which represents the Edmuns & Sons offices, towards another which represents the skyscraper she's currently sat in. At one point when the secretary looks up, the first dot has disappeared entirely. Confused, she goes to refresh the page, only to find a little message on the side of the map which reads "Please be patient! This Courier uses extraplanar travel, and may occasionally not appear on the map!" How odd! The secretary returns to her paperwork.
A few minutes later, the front door of the lobby opens, and a stallion in what looks to be casual vacation wear glides into the lobby on a pair of rollerblades. The secretary checks her second monitor, then smiles to the stallion. "Ah, you must be the courier we hired." The stallion nods, reaching into a satchel at his side. "Thank you for your expediency. My employers will be very pleased with such a quick delivery." Nar gently sets the package down on the desk in front of him with a smile. "Hey, you guys paid for express, you're gonna get express." The secretary takes the package, and smiles back at him. "We'll be sure to leave a good review for you. Have a wonderful day!" She then reaches towards a phone on her desk. As he turns to leave, Nar hears the secretary call what must be her boss, and inform him the package has arrived. Then, Nar steps back out into the streets.
Alright! It's about lunch time. Nar wonders what he should do for lunch today.
