View MoreIt’s been about three weeks since the attack at Dismal Rentals. Gray Rivers Alto Yuri’s injury was superficial, but still required a recovery time long enough to leave a multitude of duties to Carmine. For one, their location had been compromised. Break-ins happened all the time in their area, but this attack was targeted, and it was believed that the maniac calling himself Psycho Hermes, would strike again. So, where did they stay? Thanks to the money crunch, their options were limited, but some form of mercy did come in the way of Strawberry Cream’s parents, and one of Carmine’s favorite aunt and uncles. Currant was a well respected general among the Solar Army, having been enlisted since the young age of eighteen. He worked his way up the ranks, and managed to climb all the way to the cushy General’s seat. However, the changeling invasion cost him both his right eye. In the aftermath, he took the option to retire and focus on his family. Currant’s a unicorn, tall, with hair that matches his namesake all long and thrown to the side in a loose money tail. His coat’s white, pristine almost, with a slightly eggshell-ish tone. Then, there was Sakura. An earthen mare, and nearly the spitting image of her comatose daughter. Born in Neighpon, Sakura was a simple bar singer with the most beautiful voice who managed to capture the heart of the young soldier stationed there. She taught herself his language, and confessed her love the day before he left. Since then, they were merely waiting for the day they could be together. Nowadays, they’re still living in the same home theu raised Strawberry in. A decently sized, three story home, with a large dining room and a bedroom for guests. Carmine and Currant had just finished unpacking everything from the Dismal Rentals and set it up nice so that Gray could just get home and relax. “So,” Currant began with a gentle clearing of his throat. “You and him are, uh… sharing this room? Sure you don’t wanna sleep in Berry’s?” The detective cleared his throat and focused on setting out some clothes. “Well, uh… you and Aunt Sakura keep Berry’s room the same. I don’t wanna mess with it none, so… just makes sense— Oogh!” For a kind of smaller guy, Currant sure did have a heavy arm. His hand reached on Carmine’s shoulder for a slap. “Just messing with you, Carmine. I hope you two’re happy. Is he nice?” “Uncle Currant…” Carmine’s hesitance did spark a laugh. The former general continued. “Ah, still shy? Man. Alright, alright.” Little did they know, Gray’s taxi should be pulling up any moment now!

With the door and the single window’s curtains closed it really felt like they were alone in their own little world. As if all that existed was just what was within those 4 walls encasing them. If time were to stop at any given moment… Gray would hope that it’d be there and then. With those muted voices and the blue light emanating from the TV on the wall, which only managed to illuminate their silhouettes curled around one another in the dark. Eventually, Carmine’s voice broke the peaceful silence that had only just begun to settle between them as Gray had run out of commentary to share. He was still wide awake, ears tilted in Carmine’s direction, as did his eyes. “…Yeah?” Gray asked in a half whisper. A vacation, hm…? Gray embraced the idea with a light tilt of his head. He would’ve asked Carmine where he wanted to go, however, there was no need. He wanted to go to Haybale. Gray blinked a few times. “…We had said we’d do that a long time ago, didn’t we?” he smiled tenderly, also turning his body towards him. “We were on the road, I think we ran into Strawberry at that diner in the middle of nowhere, remember? And then we stayed at that motel…”He followed it with a light snort that didn’t manage to become laughter. He reached out to push a strand of hair away from Carmine’s eyes. “I think it is a wonderful idea, Carmine…” Gray cooed, he scooted closer again and gently pulled him into a hug. He kept one hand holding the back of Carmine’s head which he used to hold him still as he placed a kiss right on his forehead. He then wiggled down so that they could be face to face, and once they were lined, he grinned showing his excitement. “Let’s do it!” “…” Gray’s smile disappeared for a moment and his eyes turned to the ceiling. He was thinking of something. “Say, didn’t you say that your parents didn’t really react well to Valor though…?” the actor’s grin returned only nervously. “Haah… I mean, I’m sure I can still win them over…!” “Do you think they’d like me better if I had a beard? Like a real manly--- Actually they may hate that more, huh? Hmmm…”
