One of them is perfectly clean and preserved by a temporal reversal spell carved into the inside of the back cover. Written in an ancient hippogriff language and with translation notes between the lines, it seems to be research on a kind of sigil-based magic system. Near the end the research seems to be less official and the ideas more theoretical than actually written like they expected it to be plausible, and the research seemed to be abandoned because the sigils needed raw magic to be 'poured' in to function as intended, a feat hippogriffs were incapable of. Many other books seem to be Icy's own research journals- written very informally as she isn't some professional thaumoturgy scientist. They expand on the ancient hippogriff research and detail her progress on adapting it to be able to utilize the unique brand of magical energy that her source produces as a Hybrid. This eventually evolves to utilizing sigil magic in combination with windigo-unicorn magical annihilation to produce a controlled infinite energy source. Another journal details plans to use those artificial sources- which she seemed to be successful with- alongside artificial laylines to create devices using sigil magic that could be used longterm without constant required magical upkeep and allow her to use real magic without needing to cast spells herself. This evolves into devices that do more than just cast spells, they even replace normal appliances or even concepts with versions that don't require materials to create. Doorways that lead to alternate dimensions eliminating the need for buildings, refrigeration that can be applied to an area and narrowed to foodstuffs without needing a dedicated room, continual magical cooling, or expensive new technology. These continue with notes like 'built', 'in progress', 'impossible', 'too dangerous', etc. The journal isn't filled yet, but on the last page: "This is exactly what I got my cutie mark for! The hippogriffs could have dug up this research and sold it to Equestria for a fortune early in our relations, I suppose they forgot about it or lost it. I want to use this stuff to help ponies, but I'm afraid a lot of it is too easy to use dangerously with a little imagination, so I can't just start a company or something! Maybe I'll keep most of it to myself and give some things away to help people I trust..." Alongside that is a sigil likely used to make the journal infinite.
