The knight traced his armoured hoof along the map, his eyes narrowing slightly as he weighed his options. It was a few days worth of travel but he was confident he could get it done in two, so long as he maintained a solid pace and used this streak of clear weather. The real challenge would be scali... View MoreThe knight traced his armoured hoof along the map, his eyes narrowing slightly as he weighed his options. It was a few days worth of travel but he was confident he could get it done in two, so long as he maintained a solid pace and used this streak of clear weather. The real challenge would be scaling the mountainous region… He’d set the map down upon a log he sat before, picking up his knife set next to it. He’d bury the tip of the blade into the log, piercing the corner of the map and keeping it pinned in place so it didn’t get carried off in the gentle breeze while he enjoyed his moment of rest. He bit down onto the crunchy bread, tearing into its warm and fluffy interior that blended nicely with the sweetness of the honey. The small campfire he had used was a few feet off to the side from where he sat, now extinguished with little wisps of smoke still flowing off it. He washed the mouthful of bread down with another sip of tea before he took a deep breath, savouring the fresh air and moment of tranquility. The towering knight slowly eased back and tilted his head towards the sky, soaking up the sun and remaining this way for a long moment.. His skin tingled, a sensation forming in the pit of his stomach. A subtle flick of his ear, then the soft grinding of metal armour shifting together as his eyes opened and his head lowered to glance around his immediate surroundings slowly. He felt his senses sharpen, his eyes expecting to meet the gaze of another or an animal roaming by but there was *nothing*. Nothing but the unshakable feeling that he wasn’t alone. This uneasy feeling made the stallion slowly scan the area before him, watching for any out of place colours or a moving shadow. The wind blew harder, causing branches to sway and bushes to rustle. Everything suddenly felt so still and quiet regardless. He’d slowly shift from his seated position, rising to stand tall as he slowly circled to glance in the opposing direction. His eyes slowly narrowed, glancing down towards his sword and shield laid nearby in contemplation. “Is someone there? Come out!” The knight demanded, his tone deep and calm yet firm with an edge.
