View MoreThe deflection of the knights question made him quietly grunt in response beneath his helmet, perhaps unsatisfied with such an answer but the stranger did have a point. However long he’s been following him he only now decided to make himself known, and if he wished to do harm surely it would’ve been as easy as a knife to an unsuspecting throat. Yet here he was.. Still, the stallion remained ever vigilant. A subtle shift of steel grinding against steel as the towering knight turned his head to glance over his shoulder after focusing back onto the stranger. He glanced back at the map currently pinned down to the log, its corners lifting up gently as wind blew by and tried to whisk it away. “It is.. I picked it up passing through a town.” He explained, continuing further. “It’s said there’s a cave within the mountains in which a band of adventurers got lost pursuing.. Their fates are unknown, and I wish to find them or what’s left.” He’d focus back onto the stranger to watch them slowly ascend and rise from the bed of ash, elevating while his body formed. He watched on in great curiosity, his eyes subtly shifting to glance over and soak up what details he could. His horns in particular seemed to catch his attention most, but that was likely the case for most. He looked clean, pristine even. At least for someone who just came out of ash. He’d huff quietly in response to his words, giving a nod of his head in both agreement and understanding. It was the way things were and always would be, despite his or anyone else’s efforts. The knight would ponder for a moment before lowering his blade, taking a more relaxed stance. Its pointed tip grazed over the ground and through the blades of grass before he hoisted it and rested it against his shoulder. It was a beautifully crafted and maintained weapon, clearly made with the brutish size of the stallion in mind. Its pommel seemed to be decorated with a ring, golden in colour.. “I wasn’t expecting to find another soul out here..” He believed it to be just him and nature, but how wrong could he be! Nodding his head, the drifter disclosed his own name. “I’m Kane. Pleasure to cross paths, Seir.” He grunted quietly, watching as he too took a more relaxed posture, seating himself and bowing his head towards the knight. The knight would scoff, pacing towards the log where the rest of his gear lay and deciding to rest his blade down next to his shield, instead replacing it with the still steaming cup of tea. “I find that hard to believe.” He said, sneaking a glance back towards Seir again. “The horns and red eyes don’t do you any favours. Are you hellspawn?…” It was his only educated guess. He’d sit back himself, keeping a watchful eye on Seir as his unoccupied hoof raised to lift his helmet and tilt it back. He slowly slurped down some of that comforting warmth, providing a quick glimpse at the lower half of his scarred face before his helmet was lowered once again.

View MoreThe helm of the knight subtly tilted at the strangers challenge, a small little smirk tugging at the corner of his lips managing to crack his stoic and stone-like exterior. Of course it was concealed behind his protective helmet, but there nonetheless! “Hm. I suppose you’re right.” He’d add, washing those words down with another slow sip of tea. With the confirmation that he was truly indeed dealing with a demon, the knight couldn’t help but feel a bit.. Surprised? He wasn’t exactly certain what to expect or even make of Seir quite yet. Meeting a demon in the flesh was never something he expected for himself. While this one seemingly strayed from the stereotypical red skinned, horned and evil demon everyone knew, he reminded himself his kind was likely no stranger to trickery and deception.. He couldn’t help but agree there. He turned his head and gaze upon the large range of mountains, nodding his head. It was the best part to him to be able to freely roam and explore, see the forgotten lands untouched by the influence of pony. It contained plenty of dangers and risks, but the beauty and peace of it all was unmatched. “It is..” He began, turning to look back towards him when he questioned him further. The question made him stop and think, trying to formulate the words to express exactly how he felt. “Even if the odds of their survival are unlikely, it would be cowardice to simply do nothing. The guard can’t be everywhere, and who will help those who go unnoticed?” As he spoke his gaze shifted, focusing on the shield at his side. He laid his hoof against it, tracing it along the golden braid design upon the shields surface. “My past failures cost the life of someone so very dear to me. When she died most of me died with her. Her absence has left this unshakable hollowness inside me.. I barely survived the nightmare that followed, and sometimes I think I didn’t.” He stared down upon the braid with an intensity, as if he wasn’t truly there. His body was, but his mind was somewhere else entirely. His eyes would lift, staring back towards the demon again, his cold gaze that looked as if it could turn one to stone hardly visible through the dark slit of his helm. “I’m not fit to serve or bear another’s emblem, but my shield is still needed.”
