It's not about what a kid has it's about a parent's willingness to give. If a kid has to be good to get the things they have then they will learn how to behave but if they get things for no reason or despite being bad then they turn out spoiled

Star would quietly tip-hoof his way to the birb, before he decided to take some big leaf and place it on her belly. He then began to try and tip-hoof away, hoping to be successful in the sneak.
He would look back to Tia, his eyes widening a bit, before looking at the leaf once more, before shrugging "I...suppose? I just grabbed whatever leaf was on the floor"
