"Oooooh! You just look so cute!"
Asuka's cheeks flush a deep red as her mother dotes over her.
Her usually long, straight mane has been professionally styled. She's wearing a sparkling, light blue dress, and is wearing makeup for the first time in practically her whole life. Of course, Asuka isn't all dolled up just to go to some restaurant or something. No. Tonight was the biggest night of her high school life. It was prom. Something she'd NEVER thought she'd ever go to before. That changed when a certain someone asked her to go with him, and practically started her first ever relationship.
"Roy's gonna die of shock when he sees you." Her brother chuckles from behind her. He wasn't going to prom, but apparently he'd actually tried to ask a girl in his club to go. Turns out she was already going with another guy. He didn't seem to mind either way. "You think?" Asuka questions, ready for some sort of joke. "C'mon Asuka. The guy stops talking whenever you enter a room, and just stares at you. Kinda creepy? Yeah, but I have no doubt he won't be able to say a thing to you until you're already at prom. Before Asuka can respond, she hears the front door open. Her father appears to talk to someone for a few seconds before calling out to her. "Asuka! Your friend is here!" Typical. Her father didn't much like the idea of her daughter being in a relationship. Not that he was against it, he just couldn't bare the thought of her daughters hugging someone other than their family members.
When Asuka reaches the front door, she's greeted by Roy. He's wearing a quite nice tuxedo, and carrying a bouquet of flowers. When he finally sees her, his jaw drops. Asuka takes the flowers from her, and comments on how much she likes them, but Roy only manages to stammer. She hands the flowers to her sister before stepping outside, to lock arms with Roy. Wordlessly, he leads her back to his car, waiting with the passenger door open. "Have fun!" Her mother calls out from inside. Then, Asuka is helped into the passenger seat, the door is closed, and soon, they're off towards the school.
Just as Nar had said, Roy wasn't able to say a word as he drove them to the school. Asuka complimented Roy and his outfit multiple times, but he couldn't even manage to say "Thanks." Every time he looked over at her, his face turned red, and he had to look away. Once they finally reached the school, and parked, Roy FINALLY managed to speak. "You look beautiful, Asuka." "Thanks." Asuka pauses for a moment, before deciding to add "Handsome." The two then lock arms again, as Roy leads Asuka into the school, and to the main gym, where prom was being held.
If Asuka was being honest, the decorations they'd used to turn the gym into prom were kind of cheesy. Sparkles, and silver everywhere. A small DJ booth near the back, and plastic tables with tablecloth trying to look fancy to hold the punch. Well, at least they were trying.
The very first thing Roy says as they enter is "Do you want some punch?" Which she responds to with a "Sure." In all honesty, this was actually their first real date. Sure, they'd been together for 2 months before now, but for the most part, they hadn't really gone anywhere alone. Usually, their bandmates were with them wherever they went. Now, it was just the two of them. Granted, there were at least a hundred other people here, but it honestly didn't feel like it for some reason.
After grabbing a cup of punch, the two stand off to the side to drink, while making idle conversation. Roy comments on the music selection, and Asuka complains about it being too hot in the gym. However, once the DJ begins to play slow songs, Roy manages to work up the courage to ask Asuka to dance with him. Now, neither of the two are all that good at ANY form of dancing, but at the very least, they don't bump into other people, or each other. Despite how stiff, and sloppy the dancing is, it's by far the most romantic thing Asuka has ever experienced. Just ignore the fact that the only 'romantic gestures' the two have shared before now have been hugging each other. For the first time, when Asuka looks into Roy's eyes, she doesn't see a nervous wreck. She sees the love of her life staring back at her. If it weren't for school rules, she'd probably go in for a kiss.
The rest of the night is a blur for Asuka. She's too wrapped up in the moment to really take in everything, but she does know that she doesn't want it to end. Unfortunately though, prom does eventually come to a close. However, Roy is far from letting their night end so soon. After prom, Roy drives them to a sit-down restaurant a few minutes from the school. Asuka texts her parents to let them know as such, and they approve. Then, the two share a meal, where Roy reveals that he's been working part-time to earn money, and is paying for the dinner himself. What a gentleman!
After the meal, it's sadly, time for Roy to drop Asuka back off at home. The whole ride home, Asuka stares at Roy, wishing that she could just keep riding around with him all night. He occasionally glances in her direction, but doesn't speak a word.
When Roy finally pulls in to her driveway at the end of the night, he heaves a sigh. "Well Asuka.I-" He's cut off when Asuak calls out his name. His head jerks to look at her, only for something soft to touch his lips. Then, Asuka pulls away, a shy smile on her face. "Thank you for tonight, Roy. It was..." He can see tears forming in her eyes. "I don't want it to end." Roy's mind races to think of what to do as Asuka begins to quietly sob in his passenger seat. Then, without warning, he leans in, and pulls her into an embrace. He then plants a kiss on her lips, which neither of the two break for some time. It's only when Roy notices a light shining on his car from an upstairs bedroom that he stops. Then, Asuka exits the car, and heads inside, as Roy builds up the strength to put his car in reverse, and drive back home.
When Asuka gets inside, she's bombarded with questions from her parents, and sister. Yes, she had a good time. Yes, Roy was polite, and respectful. Yes, they did dance. No, there was no alcohol at prom. No, they did not mess around. Yes, dinner was lovely. Yes, they did share a kiss. No, they did not make out. When the questions finally stop, Asuka notices her brother standing at the top of the stairs with his phone in hand. For a moment, she's confused as to why he's grinning from ear to ear. Then, she remembers seeing a light in his bedroom window.
"NAR! " Her face flushes red as embarrassment washes over her. She notices Nar beginning to laugh, just before he re-enters his room, and shuts the door. When Asuka goes up to confront him, she can hear him talking to someone inside. "Nar! Open the door!" "Hey! Leave me alone! I'm getting ready for bed!" She then hears another voice. Oh no. Juno's in there too. With all the emotions Asuka is feeling, she becomes overwhelmed, and slumps to her knees as she begins to sob in front of Nar's door. As their parents begin to head up the stairs, Nar opens the door, and kneels in front of her. "Relax Asuka. I didn't take any pictures. I promise." Despite this, Asuka continues to sob. She's quickly consoled, and helped away by her sister, and mother, as her father steps into her brother's room to give him a lecture on privacy.
After a shower, some hot chocolate, and a little family time with everyone, Asuka then heads to bed for the night, with dreams of Roy floating in her mind. She couldn't wait to see him again.
