As the sun begins to set over Appaloosa, the town's mailman, and his apprentice set out for their last stop of the day. "Alright Johnny. One last stop, then how's about we head back to town for a ni... View MoreAs the sun begins to set over Appaloosa, the town's mailman, and his apprentice set out for their last stop of the day. "Alright Johnny. One last stop, then how's about we head back to town for a nice soda?" The mailman gives his little zebra apprentice a bright smile. Johnny nods enthusiastically in response. "Yes sir! We'll make sure Mrs. Marcutty gets her mail on time!" The mailman chuckles as the two trot down the old path north of town. Thankfully, the manor they're headed to isn't too far out of town, so they should be back before the sun fully sets. As the two walk, they whistle, and sing tunes like a cowboy would out on the trail. They sing of the stars, and of lonely travelers on empty trails. They sing songs of friends, and family, and of the town they live in. It helps pass the time, and keeps Johnny from hounding the mailman with questions like he likes to. A win-win for both of them! The mailman's dulcet tones become quiet as the two pass by the old creek north of town. It's hard to tell due to the sunlight fading, but he thinks he can see two men crouched behind a small rock formation by the creek. "Hold up now Johnny, I think-." The men step out from behind the rock. Each sports a single, white star on their vest. Lone Star Bandits. The two men approach. The smaller of the two greets them as he does so. "Howdy there fellas." His voice drips with venom. The mailman's heart begins to race. "Ya'll 'r out awfully late." The mailman's response is simple. "What do you want?" The two bandits look at each other, then back to their prey. "All tha' money ya got." Hisses the larger bandit. The mailman fumbles for his coin pouch, and tosses it over as soon as he manages to free it from his belt. "That's all the money I have." The two bandits inspect the coin pouch. One of the bandits pockets the pouch. "Ain't much in there." The other steps forward. Now only a few feet from the couriers. "Surely ya'll got more n' that." The bandit reaches down towards his side. The mailman lunges forward, attempting to tackle the bandit. However, the bandit is much too large for the mailman to topple. Instead, he grabs hold of the bandit's arm, and tries to keep him from raising it. "Run Johnny!" The mailman's voice cries out. Johnny wastes no time. He spins on his heels, and breaks out into a sprint back to town. Two gunshots ring out. The mailman cries out, then, something heavy thuds into the sand. Johnny prays to the king that the bandits don't catch him. He prays that his big brother, Dusty, or the Sheriff, or SOMEBODY will help him. Just please, Artemis. Don't let the bandits catch him. #rp
