He sits with his back to the fir... View MoreMiles upon miles of snow surround three figures amidst an endless blizzard. Sat in front of a campfire, Dusty strains his eyes to peer into the snow beyond their camp. He sits with his back to the fire, as to not spoil his night vision. On the opposite side of the fire, his wizard companion lays inside a bed roll, sound asleep. Dusty's steed lays beside the two, resting it's weary legs after another long day of travel. A small magical barrier is all that stands between the camp, and the torrent of snow. Conjured by the wizard just before the two men made camp for the night. Dusty has taken first watch. After 6 hours, it will be his turn to get some rest. Out of the corner of his eye, Dusty spots a blur amidst the snow. He turns to look to the blur. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to focus on it enough to figure out what it is. Dusty rubs his eyes, but it doesn't improve anything. Dusty slings his repeater off of his back, and gets into a kneeling low ready position. "Arthur." His voice is low, and calm. The wizard does not stir. Dusty packs a handful of snow in his hand, then turns, and lobs it underhanded over the fire. It partially melts from the heat before landing on the wizard. That causes him to stir. He slowly sits up in his bedroll, already alert. "What is it?" Dusty hears the wizard's head in his mind. Must be that 'Message' cantrip he's been using lately. "Got somethin' in the snow." Dusty thinks in response. He points his repeater off in the direction of the blur, directing the wizard to look to it. There's a moment of silence, then the wizard's voice pops into Dusty's head again. "It's a familiar." The two then begin a mental conversation through the message cantrip. "Ain't 'familiar' with that. Mind explainin' it to me?" "It's a magical servant. Usually conjured by mages for specific tasks. Namely, surveillance, and reconnaissance." "So, we're being watched." "Yes. Most mages can see, and hear through their familiars as well, so it's likely we're actively being watched by said mage." "Great. Want me tah shoot it?" "No. That might invoke a response. We need information. If I can manage to identify this familiar without the mage noticing, it might give us some clues as to the whereabouts of said mage." Well, that's great. Out in the middle of an unnatural blizzard in the middle of the San Palomino, and now somebody was watching them. Whoever it is, Dusty hopes they don't get any bright ideas. "I'll keep an eye on it. Go back to sleep." Dusty thinks. The wizard simply nods, and lays back down to resume his slumber. Leaving Dusty in the company of whoever, or whatever was watching them all by his lonesome. #rp

//Honestly, don't do much outside of the occasional story post with this guy anymore. I've already finished the story I had planned to tell with him, so he's just around for when I'm in a Wild West mood, and it's not Saturday. (I DM a Wild West themed DnD campaign)
