A hunting party trails behind t... View MoreA sickly sweet smell wafts upon hot, humid air. The noise of thousands of creatures fill Lord Ridgewell's ears. His boots slosh through the shallow waters of the swamp. A hunting party trails behind the lord. Everyone sports hunting gear, and various small arms. No sound comes from the party, other than the sloshing of boots through muddy water. An aging man hums a jovial tune to himself as he casts his line into the water. The dock he sits on is fairly old, but well maintained. He, like his father, grandfather, and ancestors, has taken great care of this dock, and the land it sits on. His family has lived in this swamp for generations, and since times long past, have become one with it. The man begins to nod off after waiting a dozen or so minutes for a bite. The sounds of the insects, and animals of the swamp are to him, as the sound of soft waves are to many others. As his eyes close, a smile slowly forms on his lips. Life was good. The man is awakened by the sound of something stirring in the water. He leisurely sits up, and grabs his fishing rod. However, when he begins to reel in the line, he finds no resistance. Odd. Then where was all that- Something leaps from underneath the water's surface. It crashes down onto the dock, taking a good chunk of the planks with it. The man manages a cry of terror as he falls backwards out of his seat, and onto the dock below. He quickly begins to scuttle backwards as the creature emerges from the water once more. A beast the size of a pontoon boat, with the head of a crocodile, and the body of a dragon clambers onto the dock, staring directly at the man. "Monarchs no!" He cries. The man continues to scuttle backwards. In his panic, he doesn't register the crack of rifles from behind him. The beast winces as 4 rounds slam into it's figure. It roars, and lunges forwards, only to be stopped by another round, striking one of it's eyes. The man feels someone grab him by his shift collar, who then begins dragging him back towards land. Another roar from the beast is answered by another volley of rifles. The beast groans once before turning, and fleeing back into the muddy water. After being safely returned to land, the man is let go. He takes a few seconds to catch his breath before slowly turning to see who saved him. He's met by a rather tall unicorn wearing the khaki outfit of a 19th century explorer, with a rifle slung over his shoulder. The explorer offers his hand/hoof, and the man takes it. "Looks as though we arrived just in time!" The explorer bellows, in a jovial, sickeningly British accent. "Are you alright chap?" The man simply nods. "Good!" The explorer then turns to what looks to be a group of 6 other men he'd brought with him. "We set up watch here tonight chaps! We must ensure the beast does not attempt to come back for it's dinner!" #rp
