A cool draft -more like a breeze- blew ... View MoreThe door slowly opened in front of Rosa, eerily squeaking as she slowly pushed on it. The place was a dump. Burnt walls, shattered glass, destroyed furnishings. A cool draft -more like a breeze- blew past the thestral. Her wings slowly closing in to her body to try and hold in her body heat. She took a few cautious steps in, looking from one side to another. She couldn't see anyone nor anything of importance. One may say it was due to the darkness, but her eyes were quick to adjust, making it seem like she'd never left the moonlight to begin with. She was tempted on turning back, the tip she'd gotten about this place may have been bunk, until she heard it. A soft, whimpering cry. Someone was indeed here, and she was not going to leave someone trapped. Who knew what monsters lurked, what demons played, and what spiteful ponies were about. This was a task she'd easily be capable of accomplishing. She stomped a hoof, and her blood-battle scythe would appear form the ground in a pool of red vampiric magics. The scythe fell against her side where she'd hold onto it with a wing talon and walked forwards cautiously. She entered a hallway, ears swiveling back and forth as she attempted to listen for two things. Anyone else nearby, and for where the crying had been coming from. She'd just reach the end of the hallway and move to turn when the crying suddenly stopped. It was replaced by something much-much stranger. A laugh. Not just any laugh, one she'd recognized. One that sent chills up her spine. She turned to throw the scythe like a spear, but at the moment her body froze. The approaching one said one simple word. "Stay~" Rosa could see his silhouette, and as he approached she could make out his features. A zebra stallion. With silver stripes. A necklace that embodied the signet of a clan. A clan that'd died almost a thousand years ago. Her breathing became labored as she stared at him, and he approached slowly, reaching up to brush a hoof under her chin. "You have let your happy life get in the way. You should have heard me coming a while ago, sensed my very presence. Oh, daughter of mine- you seem confused. Tell me, o'daughter of mine, did you really think me dead? You know how to strike," he'd say, waving a hoof towards a scar on his throat, "but you forget your place. Mystics and fetishes are our specialty. You should have made sure I was dead. And my favorite part is that you're STILL under my enchantment." What enchantment did he mean? There was no known magic locked to Rosa as far as she knew. But then it hit her, and he could see the realization. "That's right. So long as I live, I still control you. You and I, daughter, will reign supreme~"

What if I just want to live my life as it was?" She'd growl, even though it was a question, she wasn't really asking. It was a threat. "Then you should learn to give up these poor dreams of yours. Just like your mother had to. Now, be a good girl and press yourself up against the wall." As he spoke, she complied. Backing up against a wall, getting up on her hind legs and pinning herself back against it. There was one important detail she knew, and figured he did as well. There was no keeping her still. Once he was out of range she could break free of the command and chase him down. So, he pulled out two rapier style swords in an odd, magical glow. He was no unicorn, but the necklace seemed to give him more than a few enhancements. The rapiers plunged into her body and through the wall, Rosa letting out a scream in pain as her scythe fell to the ground. Exploding into a mist of red that faded away. "Oh, dear daughter. I have to make sure you don't attempt anything stupid. That is why your daughter is next on my list~ Don't fret, I can make it painless. Quick! Then, your stallion. With nothing left, you'll have to return to me. I know, I could command it, but ponies with something to protect are dangerous~" His cackle carried throughout the building, and he made his way down the hall, vanishing into the shadows. He was officially gone. And nothing Rosa could do would stop him. Except, the pure fury she wore on her face. The hatred returned. The darkness was seeping back in through the cracks again. Once more, Rosa was at odds with herself. Her father was stronger than she was, and her vampiric magic was nothing but child's play. She needed something more, and the only way to get it was to do something she was afraid to bring herself to. With her father gone, she'd regain control of herself, and with a swift, powerful strike, she'd break both rapiers off. Another scream would follow as she pulled herself away from the wall. She had to save her daughter, at any cost.
