Granted, being hot, and eating rations w... View MoreOnly two weeks out from Appaloosa now, and Dusty couldn't wait to cool off in the saloon. Not to mention being able to eat a decent meal more than once a week. Granted, being hot, and eating rations were things Dusty was more than used to at this point in his career. Still, it was nice to have something else to look forward to when they got back to the town. For a few moments, Dusty imagines himself in the saloon, enjoying a nice, cold glass of whisky. He can practically taste the smooth, smokey flavor of his favorite brand, and feel the cold glass in his hand. The sudden, and harsh sound of wood splintering, and snapping causes Dusty to be pulled back to the desert. To his left, Makabe's wagon is now listing to it's back right. It appears that the wheel that's supposed to be there has snapped off, and is now laying on the trail, a few feet behind the wagon. The whole caravan slowly comes to a stop as Makabe, and Dusty inspect the wagon. There's a brief conversation with the head of the caravan, in which, he learns that the repairs are expected to take a few hours. "We can't afford to wait that long. The trading company is on a tight schedule, and they can't afford any delays." Shit. Even if they had all the right tools, they still wouldn't be able to fix the wagon's wheel quick enough. Not when the axle it was attached to splintered the way it did. Which means, Makabe and his family are going to get left behind, while the caravan moves ahead. They're going to be left to die out here. When he looks to Makabe, Dusty can see the look in his eyes. He's well aware of the dangerous situation he's in now. "Alright then. Ya'll go ahead, as scheduled. Ah'll stay back, and help these folks get to Appaloosa myself." Dusty tips his hat to the caravan leader. The caravan leader raises an eyebrow, but before he can speak, Mist interjects. "Ain't gonna do shit on your own. I'll stay behind too. Make sure you don't get yourselves killed." At this, the caravan leader nods, and signals to the rest of the caravan. As Dusty, Mist, and Makabe return to working on the wagon, the rest of the caravan starts moving once again. They're long out of sight by the time the three manage to get the wheel fixed. Once the wagon is finally moving again, Mist looks to Dusty. When he speaks, Dusty can't tell if he's joking, or just being morbid. "Well Ranger boy. We've got a long ways ahead of us. Hope you don't get us killed." To this, Dusty nods. "Ain't gonna try to." #rp
