Townsfolk amble the streets,... View MoreA warm breeze blows through the town of Appaloosa, cooling the evening down after a blisteringly hot afternoon. As the haze begins to settle, the small town comes to life. Townsfolk amble the streets, attending to errands, chores, and simply going for walks in the now bearable temperatures. Amidst the bustle, a lone ranger sidles through the main street atop his steed. He greets the townsfolk by name as he passes, and they respond in kind. At the Appaloosa schoolhouse, the middle-aged teacher gathers her students outside. The school day has just ended, and now it's time for them to be go home. Some have already left to walk home, while others stay behind to wait to be picked up. The children play games as they wait, while their teacher watches over them to make sure nobody gets hurt. The games stop when a ranger approaches the schoolhouse atop his steed. He pulls his steed up alongside the only zebra among the children, tilting his head down to speak to the boy. "You ready tah go Johnny?" The little zebra boy nods enthusiastically, before scrambling up into the saddle, in front of the ranger. Tiny voices ooh, and awe from below. "Lucky!" One little colt pouts. "Cool!" Another reaches out to try to grab the steed's reigns. "Now now boys. It ain't nice tah touch other people's stuff without their permission." The ranger softly chides the boy as he pulls the reigns away, out of his reach. The teacher quickly gathers up the students once more, and offers an apology to the ranger. "Weren't no thang Ms. Bind. Them boys is just curious. 'Sides, every little boy dreams ah bein' ah lawman at some point." The ranger chuckles before turning his steed to head back from the way he came. A little filly calls out from the group of students, waving to the zebra boy in the saddle. "Bye Johnny!" He responds with an enthusiastic wave of his own. Thus begins the stroll back to the Makabe farmstead. With it's distance from the center of Appaloosa, it's a bit far of a walk for Johnny, and Makabe needs all the time he can get to work on his farm. Seeing as how dusty hasn't been deployed yet, he figured he could lend his friends a helping hand by dropping off, and picking up Johnny from school. "So, Johnny. What'd'ja learn about tahday?" Questions Dusty to his little passenger. "Negative numbers Dusty! Did you know that you can subtract a bigger number from a smaller one and it becomes negative!" The excitement in Johnny's voice practically melts Dusty's heart. It was so nice to see Johnny enjoying learning. He was gonna grow up to be a good man. Dusty could tell. "Well, you'll have tah tell yer pa all about 'em when yah get home." #rp
