Kisho stands in the comparatively tiny kitchen of his eldest daughter's apartment. He's preparing a special meal that she has loved since childhood. His wife, Betty, sits on the couch with their daughter, wrapping her curled form into an embrace underneath a blanket that could really only be useful in this situation.
The two had driven all night to arrive in Vanhoover this morning. They'd taken shifts driving so that they'd both be appropriately rested by the time they arrived. They'd packed their car to the brim with supplies just so they could stay with their daughter for as long as possible. Kisho had even brought a mattress for them to sleep on instead of the couch. Sure, there was Nar's bed, but to use it would be a terrible offense. You don't use the bed of the deceased, only days after they have passed.
Asuka had barely spoken since the two had arrived. She'd thanked them for coming over, but hadn't communicated outside of nodding, or shaking her head in hours now. Inside, Kisho felt immense grief, and sorrow. He wanted nothing more than for his daughter to be happy, but he knew that the road back to joy would be a very long, and painful one. Nar had been like a son to Kisho, but he was far closer to Asuka than anyone else in the world. Kisho was doing his best to remain strong, and stoic for her sake. She needed a rock to support her during this time, because she had just lost the one she'd known her whole life.
Despite his stoicism, Asuka quite obviously was aware of her father's grief. She tried to tell him that he shouldn't cook for her, but he had insisted. She hadn't eaten in nearly 2 days, and Kisho would never be able to forgive himself if he let anyone in his family go hungry.
Kisho sets the last plate on the counter of Asuka's kitchen, and looks to the mother/daughter burrito sitting on the couch. "Lunch is ready. Please, come eat." Slowly, the two unravel their burrito, and Betty helps Asuka to the counter, making sure she's properly seated before sitting herself. Then, the three share an unusually quiet meal. The food was cold comfort, but for now, Kisho was glad his daughter was eating again. #rp
