What's the most aggravating advice you've ever been given? Did it end up helping or hindering you?

I think the worst advice I ever got was from my family after I kinda laid it out for the. (i.e: depression, transness, etc) was what they thought was the most grand advice ever.

"carry a lollypop and use it as a weapon" I never use it because how the hell do I get a lollypop that big?
that my never strengthening muscles and constant lethargy is due to the lack of exercise! so walk more despite having to do quite a bit as a student already, and surely you'll be better!
and that's how you get a rather late diagnosis for thyroid issues
