Ebb and Flow

"Of all the worst places to be." Camille let out a groan as she pulled another branch from her mane and tossed it aside. Another contract landed her in the Swamplands, and she was not happy about it. At least the pay would be pretty good this time. Her travels had brought her to an old, run down alter. The place felt familiar... She turned to see a pile of rocks, a carefully made cross planted at one end of it. The name on the sign was fading, but she instantly knew where she was. Or, at least where she thought she was. Camille took an involuntary step back and bumped into something, and in an instant did an evasive jump to see what it was. That mare was there, staring at her. Her expression fading between a smile and an evil smirk. "Couldn't save me," came a disembodied voice, the mouth on this imposter not moving. "I thought you were a hero? Heroes are villains with different agendas. You'd make a better villain." Camille's heart began racing, her breathing becoming more and more labored as she slowly backed away. "No, no, I tried! I mean it!" The voice came from her left, when she turned to look for it, it moved to the right. "Oh, sure you did. You saw how killing was your mother's outlet, and wanted to give. It. A. Try~" "Stop it!" "Oh, but sweet Camille, you want this~" Camille's heart raced, she could almost feel it beating out of her chest. Everything felt hot, and everything she did felt doubled. Every move felt heavy, but over forced. Her heart hurt in more than just a physical way. "Please, stop..." "Oh, sweet, poor thing! Can't even muster the courage to stand up to your own demon?~" She had enough. Flight wasn't going to work, so she had one other option: fight. "I said...STOP!" Camille screamed out, stomping her front hooves on the ground. Suddenly, the veil came crashing down and she found herself just outside of Ponyville. She didn't remember walking that far, or how she had got there. All she knew was the world faded to black and she passed out in the street. The Godhunter, the wanted killer, had become easy picking for the guards to apprehend. Camille had been caught.
