Here she had the opportun... View MoreSpending time alone at school is what Camille had done since day one. She was excited to be there, knowing she'd learn things her parents hadn't taught her, nor really could. Here she had the opportunity to be normal. To be able to make friends and socialize. That didn't all work out as she was left on her own. Most calling her a freak because of her thestral-like appearance. One even mentioning that it's horrible they could see her, since it means they all witnessed death! She had told them that dumb stories like that aren't real, but the other children just laughed at her. Add in her heterochromic eyes, tiny stature and build, and she was easy pickings. On this day, things changed. "Look at stupid Cookie playing a stupid baby game," Butch had said. Camille perked up as she heard that. She stood and made her way to the corner of the wall she'd been sitting against. From there she'd witnessed everything that followed. Him pulling Cookie's hair, her warning him, the punch. All of it. Before Cookie retaliated, Camille had taken one step forward, her hand shaking as it tightened into a fist. She hated bullies. She wanted to beat the snot out of him! Sadly, she couldn't bring herself to help. Camille lowered her head and kicked at the ground as she listed to Butch's whaling. She quickly made her way back behind the wall until recess was over, not wanting to show herself again. Fear of being different, of ire being turned on her... She didn't desire it. She didn't want to fight, but her heart cried otherwise.

It's been a good while since that happened, and Camille had been quietly doodling in her sketchbook. Everyone had to stay indoors this time as it was raining pretty good outside. So she took to sitting as far away from the rest of the class as she could. Today it'd seem a different clown had other intentions. She felt her tail suddenly being pulled, and hard. Crying out in pain and tried to pull away but couldn't. Her tail was through the lower, open portion of her chair, and whoever had it wasn't going to let her stand. "Look! Look! The webbed wing freak has a weird tail! I wonder if I could use it as a jump rope!" Camille recognized the voice of Velvet, her own Butch. Velvet cackled as she pulled harder, causing tears to form in Camille's eyes. She whimpered, trying to pull her tail back, grabbing at the base. "Let...go!" "Why should I? It's gross, but so fun! Look how far it bends!" She began putting pressure on the tail, causing Camille to squirm in her chair. "Stop! It hurts! Please stop!" "Oh my gosh! Look at it! It's making a U-turn! Bad Camille!" "Please! No more!" "I bet I can get the tip to tou-" snap. There was a moment of silence...until- Velvet instantly let go, a look of disgust on her face as she stepped back. Camille fell from the chair, crying out in pain and holding her tail close. About a foot from the end had been seemingly broken, leaving it at an odd angle. The loud cries of pain was more than enough to get the teacher's attention. Of course, Velvet simply stated that she'd "stepped on it because Camille tried to trip her." The teacher wasn't buying it, but couldn't do much about it now. She instantly helped Camille out of the room and to the nurse. Luckily, her tail could be reset, it wasn't completely broken, but the nurse had wrapped gauze around it to keep it steady until it healed. Back at home, Rosa watched as her daughter banged into the house and stormed off to her room, slamming the door shut behind her. She saw the tail, and instantly knew what had happened. It was time to talk about not being afraid to stand up for herself. Even if she gets in trouble at school, Rosa would never fault her as long as it's self defense, or in defense of another. For now, she knew to give her daughter space. "Oh, Mouse...I know you can make friends, what's holding you back...?"
