Thund... View MoreSummer is when the sleeves get short, flops flip, pools fill, and beaches get overrun by people trying to convince themselves they enjoy getting sunburns. It's also when the weather gets severe. Thunderstorms that rattle your house. Rain that, while infrequent, doesn't stop for days. Heat waves that make doing anything outside not involving copious amounts of water near impossible, and to top it all off, it's prime tornado season. Asuka has been called in for her shift early today. This morning, at the crack of dawn, a tornado touched down on the north side of town. From what Asuka hears, the weather service is labeling it an EF3. Petty bad, but not the worst. Thankfully, for the majority of it's time on the ground, the tornado tracked over mostly open farmland. Doing little more than uprooting a few trees, and ruining a few fields of crops. Then, near the end of it's life, it veered into a neighborhood. Stepping out of her ambulance, Asuka enters a scene of chaos. Homes stand partially destroyed along the streets. Debris litters yards, sidewalks, and roads. People are scattered everywhere. Some call out for friends, and loved ones. Other search for beloved pets, or look through rubble for cherished belongings. Some sit dejectedly by the remains of their homes. Police officers attempt to help direct people to safer areas. Crews of firefighters search through the rubble for anyone trapped underneath, and road crews are already setting to work clearing the roads to make it easier for emergency vehicles to drive through. "Hello!?" A voice calls out from a nearby house. Turning to look, Asuka spots a man stood over the remains of a house. He's leaning in to shout into the rubble. A nearby cat, sat on the sidewalk lets out a meow in response. "It's gonna be okay! We're gonna get you out of there!" The man calls back into the rubble. A quick glance at the street in front of the house reveals, presumably, this man's vehicle. It seems to be a fairly simple, but reliable model of car with some sort of setup inside. There's a camera positioned in the middle of the front windshield, and it looks like there's some sort of laptop/radar setup on the console. A storm chaser perhaps? "Should we tell him?" Asuka's driver leans in to nudge her with his elbow. This prompts Asuka to get the man's attention with a "Hey!" The man turns to look at her. His eyes widen slightly, and his posture relaxes. Before he's able to respond, Asuka points to the cat, now striding down the sidewalk to somewhere else. "It's just a cat." The man goes silent. He turns around and leans down to listen into the ruble once more. After a moment, he slowly stands. His cheeks are lightly flush with embarrassment. "So it is.": the man chuckles, and approaches the two. "Name's Twister. I'm a storm chaser. Ironic name, I know. Any way I could help you guys out here?" Before Asuka can respond, a shout from a nearby house catches her attention. "Somebody help! There's someone trapped in here!" Without a word, Asuka, her driver, and Twister all hurry over. It's going to be a long shift. #rp
