Within Canterlot Castle laid a secret chamber. A chamber used for the purpose of performing and discussing secret acts of Arcane Performance. The World of Arcane was never predictable. It was never assumed to be safe. It was always dangerous. No matter if one masters it or is considered an expert in the field. Arcane is always unsafe. The need for caution was always a priority. Therefore, a secret chamber for Arcane Performance was as safe as it could get. And the current acts going on inside that room at the moment? Well...it was even wiser to stay in the chamber.
"I'm gonna give you one of my most honest answers, Nightmare. I'm not sure if I'm ready for this. I mean....are we sure this will work? The stories? The...tales. What if it was all fiction? Falsehood? If this doesn't work as it was told to? I'm just gonna end up stabbing myself and bleeding out...." A concerned voice came from the King of Darkness. Artemis Luminous was an Alicorn that was unique and mastery of all Arcane. Yet despite his knowledge of power and intelligence of certainty. He still had doubt laid into what he was holding. Two Daggers. Two Daggers that told their own stories. Ancient craftsmanship along the hilts and blades. Arcane magic seeming to flow off of them, having them glow slightly with intense pressure. A powerful pair of weapons. But....these were not weapons. Far from it. These.....they were tools. A tool. An advantage. These Daggers were one of the Artifacts that Artemis had been tracking down for over a year now. The Daggers of Foresight. An Artifact with a dangerous ability. Second compared to the dangers of the Lantern of Fortune. The Daggers of Foresight had the ability to allow the user to glimpse a future about themselves. However, it was key to know a detail. No future is ever set in stone. Therefore what ever the Daggers show? It's considered a possible future. Not THE future. A future none the less. A very possible future. Powerful and dangerous. And so were the conditions. For for one to even see their possible future? They'd have to stab themselves with the Daggers.
"We've been over this, Artemis." Nightmare, the Nightmare Spirit, spoke towards his host with slight annoyance. "The Arcane coming off of the daggers is intense and powerful. So much so that tales of it's use? It's most definitely true. If these Daggers do show a possible future? It is worth using. Besides...if it turns out to be untrue? And you cause fatal wounds? I'll just heal you. Good as new."
"How reassuring. Well...whatever. Let's get this over with and have ourselves a glimpse into a possible future. With all that has happened this month alone? New Strangers, Worlds, Kingdoms? It's best to see where we might possibly stand. The sooner this is over? The sooner I'll inform our wife of what was seen." Artemis gave a heavy sigh, almost seeming to hype himself up in a way. I mean...he was about to stab himself. As is the requirement of the dagger. If the Legends were true? The daggers shouldn't penetrate. They should just phase through him. With a final breath and charge, he would direct the Daggers into his chest with a yell.
And then it was happening. A tunnel of speeding light seemed to invade the King's surroundings and vision. As if he was going through a speeding tunnel. As if he were merely flying at lightspeed, but staying stationary in one spot. His eyes seemed to take moments to adjust as sounds became clear. Voices became clear.
"You are nothing more then a Cancer towards my Land! By my right as King? Your execution will be at my hooves!" "Don't plead for mercy when you are the ones that start the fight! Accept that you've been beaten and bested." "To think yourself so foolish. Trying to redeem yourself. Make a land for you to start over. Use my world as nothing more then a fall back to your crimes. A mass murderer. A Tyrant of Manslaughter. I pity the mare you love. For she has fallen falsely for an unredeemable soul." "This Kingdom is one that runs through us. King and Queen. Do not let such simple minded fools misguide you. Trust me. I know what I'm doing." "He left! He left us! I had no choice but to become King! I had to! The Kingdom would have suffered! He was in no condition to rule once more! Where my Brother left?! I had to take his place! It was not my decision, but my purpose!" "I'm sorry....I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for your species. I'm sorry for what has happened to make you who you are. The universe....has been unkind to you. But...you are a threat. And.....so is your daughter. And I can't take my chances in letting you both continue to be threats...."
These voices were the King's voice. Artemis knew and recognized it. They all seemed jumbled and unrelated to one another. A possibility of speech he'll be given in a possible future or futures depending. Yet even so...he couldn't shake the similarity in each one. For in each one? He sounded angry, upset, confused, and regretful. It was all a lot to take in. But he'd endure these complicated questions as he continued through this light tunnel of vision.
The next set of events were visions the King would witness, but only briefly. Each vision clashed and sprinted past him with hardly enough time for him to analyze them. He could only take hold of a few for note.
The King and Queen was seen giving his friend, Ghostbit, a ceremony of sorts. A knighting perhaps? Odd. very odd.
Artemis was seen with a stallion known to him as Mr. Flam, a genius business stallion, yet both were discussing something around some sort of magical object.
Artemis and his wife laid close together in bed, both seeming to keep all eyes on the foal between them. A foal that wasn't the King's daughter Lilith. A new foal? He wasn't quick enough to make out details.
Artemis is seen shouting at the mare known as Sylvia, his friend's daughter. He seemed angered and enraged. But....not at her. Almost as if he was venting? Maybe?
Artemis and his wife are seen observing the Kingdom of Monros, watching as half the kingdom was being consumed by a Darkness. The Darkness seemed to be attempting to bury half the Kingdom into the sands of the desert. Attempting being the key word.
All these images were the only ones Artemis could properly analyze for more then a second, yet....it didn't lead to any explanation. These futures. Possibilities. There was no context to them. No info as to what they all meant. All they were? Glimpses. Glimpses of possibilities. Nothing more. It was to say that even if Artemis could look at every image that passed him? Well...it wouldn't change his knowledge of the unknown events that had to take place in those futures. And as his confused speculation was ending? The tunnel had stopped. Around him was a tunnel of noises and visions no more. Around him was....air. A Castle. Canterlot. The Kingdom. He was standing on the balcony of one of the towers, looking at the world around him. The Kingdom...Canterlot? It expanded. The city of Canterlot seemed to take over the whole mountain, expanding close to the base. He could spot other cities in the distance. Ponyville had expanded and became a city. Towers leading in the direction of Manehatten were to be seen. If this was what he was seeing so far? How much of the Kingdom had expanded? How much...was worked on? How long did all this take?...
He gave a glance down below. He saw himself. King Artemis. Next to his wife, Queen Lesa. Both were dressed as royalty, sitting upon a Garden bench. Both seemed happy in one another's company. Both dressed in dark apparel. His wife sporting a smile of innocence as she usually did. But her aura seemed to give off power and control. Artemis could suspect one thing. She grew into the Role of Queen. And now? She knows the worth of her power.
"Hey! Can you hear me!" Artemis seemed to gasp for air suddenly, blinking ever so fast as he felt a heavy dizziness take over. The chamber. He was back in the chamber. The Dagger. They worked. "Artemis? Can you hear me?" Spoke his Spirit was a concerned look. A look to make sure the Artifacts didn't take too much out of him. Artemis could only give a nod, not yet collecting his voice.
"Good. Good. You scared me there for a moment, King." Nightmare gave a relieved sigh, seeming to step back for a bit. "So.....What future did you see?".......
