Well, sorry about the delay. It honest took me a while you find you again. Seems this device is really on the fritz... I must get it looked at, but enough about my own drama. We're here to talk about you, so grab your quills and take a seat. Today I'm gonna talk to you about connections.
Connections are the people, organizations, foes, rivals, or anything really that provides depth to your character's story. Sometimes it can provide you with the hook for a grand adventure like how when Shining Armor had a childhood connection to Twilight's babysitter who just so happened to be a princess in training. Or perhaps you've been banned for a particular sweet's emporium for sampling too many flavors in one sitting.. Whatever the connection, they give you something that can shape how your character acts in a given situation. So to help you develop these connections, I prepared a few starter questions for you.
Does your character have any people they would consider themselves close to? Perhaps a merchant they see every day or a friend. Has your character cross anyone, that might be looking for your downfall or actively planning it? How do a connection within your character's life enrich their experience? How does a connection within your character's life hinder their life? Is there a connection that really inspires your character as a primary drive?
Im really looking forward to your answers and discussions, but my ticker is starting to phase out again, I must look into it! Hey if y-u - mom--t can you grab me a --a-tz c-y---l. ---- -----.

You have may thought that the winds of time have taken me away from this place, and while its true that time has a way of driving us in all directions we will always try to be here to help. This time we'd like to talk about setting. Setting provides the backdrop for your character's story. It can provide technology, canon relationships, canon events to provide time and size. Or political backdrops to give your character interesting situations to stick you and your RP partners within. When choosing a setting a few questions may help you come to a conclusion. Does the setting of where my character lives have any special meaning to them? How does the setting influence the character's daily life? Does the character serve a role within the setting, be it purposely or accidentally? How does the setting react to my character? Does it even recognize my character as a part of it or am I merely a speck within a larger sea? Was my character originally from a place that is different from the setting that they now find themselves?
The example being of Rarity and how she seems to hold the big city in her heart despite living within the small town of Ponyville. This comes out in the way she chooses to talk to ponies or even her career echoes those ties to the big city. When she is placed into the city you can see her flourish and sometimes even struggle due to how long shes been away from such an environment.
So what setting is your character from? What setting do they find themselves now? How does the setting influence your character? I look forward to seeing your answers and discussion.

Vanil. Born in Canterlot, still lives in Canterlot. As a wee filly, defiant of the upper echelon's inherently posh nature, but a little soul-searching post-life altering event, and she grew to somewhat embrace it. Awesome that you have someone who has become molded by the society that they find themself belonging to. It makes me curious of the life altering event that you speak of. Was this a negative event that forced her to embrace the city and all its woes? Or was it a grand opportunity that opened her eye... View More

I can say that she took to the fancy life for neither of what you mentioned. She isn't particularly keen as to how they are but why they choose to be. None of the rebellious lads and lasses so far have reflected her past, nor does she go out of her way to find out, thus she remains indifferent.

This week it’s time to help you build your OCs. So to begin, we’d like to ask you to think about your OC and answer this question. “What is the biggest lie your OC tells themself?†This sort of question gives your OCs a flaw which is tied to perhaps a core ideal for them.An example of such would be that your OC believes that their friends would never lie to them. This would cause them to trust whatever their friends say at face value, like Pinkie Pie. While being devastated if they find out they were lied to. The break of their internal reality could cause them to then create another lie that is more dysfunctional then the last or provide a character with something to reflect upon. The example is how Pinkie discovers that her friends lie to her so she falls into a deep depression of which she creates versions of her friends that would never lie to her. Rejecting her friends due to their untrustworthy behavior, by creating narratives in her head about how much they dont care for her. She quickly rebounds once she realizes that her friends were instead planning something for her. While I dont personally recommend such a quick rebound it is an interesting example to get you to start to think about what makes your character tick. So what is the lie that your character tells themself?

To add on to this, did a new lie develop from reality showing itself to her?

Alrighty, glad to see your character has a good head on their head :)
Hopefully, this guide was a bit helpful to ya. Though it seems like you got it already :P
Sandy Sunrise's lie would probably be that she's still the adventurous little filly she used to be, not the anxious mare she is now.

She tries very hard to force herself into situations she can't handle, and while she is very talkative and social, it's more of an act. She spends at least an hour a day before she leaves her house trying to calm down.

Trixie's lie.. Well. She's had several. Many have been broken/disproven to her. It's hard to focus on just one. I could get into all of them if you would like, would give out a lot of backstory as well.

Well if you already have a few lies for her that's awesome. No need tell me if you want your backstory to be some stuff that people discover. I just hope, this guide was a bit helpful for you to think about.

Eh I mean... I usually try not to focus on all these complexities anyways. I just go with the flow kinda, reacting as my AU Trix would.
Tbh she lies to herself a lot. Her big issue is can she even trust herself?

Ambients biggest lie would probably be she thinks everything is positive and try's to grasp at even the smallest of things in dark times. Even though deep down she is crying, scared and knows its all over or there is no win.
Interesting, so what Im understanding is that her core value is that, "There is a spark of light no matter how dark?" Would you consider this to be a lie or optimism? Or is there world context that Im missing that would explain why there is no way to win?
