She might not still be a police detective but she still owns firearms, and apparently Pearl is scared by them. Which is entirely valid. But she explained that anything can be dangerous in the hooves a dangerous person, and that respect for firearms is good, but that fear is rather pointless. A responsible gun owner can protect their family well in dire situations!

She's upset because after that, Pearl had asked who her dad was. And that was the question she absolutely could not answer. And that thought had her curled up on the couch in an blanket, nursing a cup of coffee as she watches her precious little child play with building blocks. Someone people say it is harmful, some say it is effective, some say there's better alternatives that seem more like old mare's tales-all the research has made her want to do is lock herself and Pearl in the house away from everyone. They can't get sick if they don't leave the house right?
