The Mercy Guard, a branch of the Royal Guard founded over a hundred years ago by Princess Celestia to aid the wounded, be them allies, enemies or civilians. Anypony with the will to join can do so by sending a request to the local Royal Guard's offices or by contacting directly one of the regional Dr. Commanders or the Surgeon Captain. The higher the medical expertise, the higher the rank you'll be set in (After 6 weeks of military training. High ranks must also take an additional 6 months of leadership training before joining). If your abilities in medicine are sub-par, however, you'll need to spend at least 3 months of medical training with the Dr. Commander that's been assigned to your region. Due to the recent passing of the last Surgeon Captain (Dr. Lassara), the title of Surgeon Captain now passes to the former Dr. Commander assigned to Ponyville, publicly known as Zerathur Naszberuk. That is, until someone with higher expertise can assume the rank.
