He isn't sure how long... View MoreAfter what happened with The Voices, things have been a blur for Nar. The most Nar can recall from after his encounter with The Voices is the other Nar disappearing for a while. He isn't sure how long he was gone, but when he did return, he said something about the 'path ahead' being safe, and sent him on his way, alone. Nar passed into the third layer of the AHS a while ago. He tried to get a hold of Micro with the radio she gave him when he remembered he had it, but he never got a response. As much as he wants to go check in on her, there's no telling if he'd even be able to find the exact highway her lab was in. Instead, Nar has tried to convince himself that she simply left the AHS to live in the material plane. The light of a blue torch over a door signals the way forward. The door itself is a dark blue, and features a glowing, white square. Nar wants to be surprised to have found a door into layer 2 so quickly, but he simply doesn't have the energy, physically, or mentally, to do so. As Nar passes through the threshold of the door, he's met with a fairly grizzly sight. Only a few steps from the door, Nar sees what looks to be the right half of a woman, lying on the ground. The half of her face still in tact is frozen in a pained grimace. Only, there are no visible bones, or muscles from the opening in her side. All he sees is a black ooze, that appears to be slowly eating away at her. A quick once over reveals an E.S.E.E badge affixed atop a simple breastplate. Looks like she was trying to get away from something, but wasn't quick enough. Nar gives the woman's half a wide berth, and continues around it. Ahead, he sees what looks to be a pair of rock formations in a barren, rocky wasteland. He can see a blue torch lit atop one of the formations, signalling the way forward. As Nar steps foot into the wasteland however, a sound stops him. Somewhere within, he thinks he hears a small voice, whimpering. He approaches the source with great caution, ready to flee at the slightest hint of danger. Nar's head slowly peeks around one of the rock formations. He scans the area, and spots movement in the corner of his eye. As he rounds the corner, and creeps towards the source of the sound, he sees what looks like a pair of wings, curled around a small figure. A small head pops out from behind the wings, and cranes to look back at him. Shit. It's a little girl, probably no older than 4. She's found a small crevice in one of the rocks, and cradled herself inside. She looks up at him with a mixture of fear, and confusion. Nar musters all of the emotional energy he can scrounge up, and a smile slowly forms on his face. As he approaches the girl, he slowly extends his arms. "Hey sweetie. What are you doing all the way out here?" The girl appears to shift in her little crevice, turning to face Nar. Tears then begin to stream down her face as she reaches her arms out towards him, and begins to wail. He gently scoops her up into his arms, and cradles her against his chest. "You must be so scared, out here by yourself. You're so brave." For a moment, Nar thinks back to what he saw when he first entered this highway. As he looks down at the little girl in his arms, he comes to a grim realization. She looks almost exactly like what he saw of the woman. Likely, her daughter. "It's okay. You're safe now. You're gonna be okay." Nar gently strokes the girl's hair as he begins his trek once more. His heart aches for the poor girl. She was alone, afraid, and may have watched, or listened to her mother die, at such a young age. The Astral Highway System is truly cruel. #rp
