View MoreInside the law offices of Litexu and Associates, primary partner Litigious Exculpation pours over various documents neatly arranged on his desk. He's just had a plea hearing for his client earlier this morning, and after a not guilty plea, the courts set for jury selection to begin tomorrow. They're trying to speed things along, but Litigious still has some requests that need to be answered before he's ready for trial. At the very least, the judge they got for the trial is about the best he could get in Canterlot. His name is Justice Vindicant, and he's just about the best news Litigious has gotten from this case so far. An ex-Solar with a stern, but fair approach to his courtroom. Litigious knows him fairly well. He's a fairly understanding judge, at least, compared to the majority of judges in Canterlot. Some might even call him empathetic. Still, that didn't mean this case was going to be easy. His client is accused of multiple counts of multiple violent crimes, and there's no doubt about the fact that he did commit such acts. His firm's strategy isn't to deny their client committed the acts, but rather, to claim they were justified self defense. To prove he had to do so in order to protect himself, and his loved ones. As Litigious reads over a letter sent by the Canterlot District Attorney's office, there's a knock at his office door. "Come in." A second later, the door opens, and one of his paralegals steps in, carrying a folder of documents. "Mr. Exculpation, the Canterlot Guard has complied with our request. They've sent us all of the documentation we've requested, and are willing to comply with any further requests we have for them." Scratch the judge being the best news Litigious had gotten about this case. THIS was the best news he'd gotten by far! The Canterlot Guard usually made quite a stink when it came to legal requests, but they gave his firm everything the requested without any fuss. As he pours through the documents in the folder, he stops at one particular document. There it is. The document that might make this legal battle a fair fight. A manifest detailing the Canterlot Guard patrol routes for the streets around the site of the incident, the night it happened. From what Litigious knows, his client's friends/family had to run 6 blocks to the nearest guard station to get help, and a nobleman who witnessed the incident had to go down an entirely different street to find a guard for help. Now it's time to find out why it took the guard so long to be notified, and respond. 6 minutes is far too long for how deep in the city the site of the incident was. With any luck, this document might just give him something to work with. #rp
