She did well enough during the physical, and fine with the x-ray, but when it came time fo... View MoreToday, Cookie is getting a routine checkup at the pediatrician's office. Physical, blood work, even an x-ray! She did well enough during the physical, and fine with the x-ray, but when it came time for her finger to be pricked for the blood work, she was none too happy. Cookie stands in the doorway of the lab, unwilling to enter, and sit in the seat the nurse wants her to. Nar kneels down to be almost eye level with her. He comforts her by gently rubbing her shoulder, and telling her how she has to be brave. "Like you, papa?" She asks, head slumped, but eyes staring up at him. "Just like papa." He responds, smiling. Cookie sniffles, then nods slowly. "Okay." Then, Nar takes her hand, and gently leads her to the chair. She hesitates for a moment before Nar helps her ease into the chair. As the nurse gets everything she needs prepared, Nar holds Cookie's other hand, and distracts her with stories about him, and her aunt. When the nurse pricks Cookie's finger to draw blood, Cookie's too busy laughing to notice. At the end of the checkup, the doctor sits Nar, and Cookie down. "Well Mr. Yakushi, Sugar Cookie is very healthy. Exceptionally so for a girl her age, but, there is one thing I wanted to bring to your attention." Nar feels his heart skip a beat. "Now, before I go on, let me assure you, your daughter is healthy, and what I'm about to tell you is just so you can watch out for it in the future." At this, the doctor pulls up two x-ray images on his screen, both of Cookie's wings. "Sugar Cookie's wings have a fairly brittle bone structure. Something that's quite rare for most pegasi. What this means is that her wings are not strong enough to generate the lift needed for flight. As well as meaning they are more susceptible to injury. However, Sugar Cookie should be able to glide, though with more difficulty than the average pegasus. I thought it best to inform you, as most pegasi take their first flying lessons around 4-6 years old." Nar's heart sinks. He had hoped that one day Cookie could enjoy the feeling of flight that he'd longed for his entire life. Now he'd just been told that would never happen. Cookie, however, did not seem to care. After the visit, Nar takes Cookie to get ice cream for being so brave when she got her finger pricked. The two then enjoy a lovely afternoon together. #rp
