He stands on the sidewalk beyond t... View MoreThe house ahead of Nar is fairly standard for a Ponyville Suburb. Yet, to Nar, it feels more like the house from 'Monster House.' A place laden with dread, and fear. He stands on the sidewalk beyond the house with a colt scout's sash, and hat in his arms. Despite the cool, early evening breeze, a bead of sweat slowly trickles down Nar's face. He doesn't want to do this, because he doesn't want to be the one to shatter these parents world into a million tiny pieces. At the same time, he wants to do this, because they need to know. They need closure. With a deep, shaky breath, Nar wills his legs to take a step forwards. They feel both like jelly, and full of lead at the same time. Despite this, he forces himself onward. Each step more difficult than the last. Approaching the front door takes more willpower than anything else Nar has ever done. Lifting his arm to knock on the door feels like the weight of the world is weighing it down. With great effort, Nar eventually manages three knocks on the front door. A few moments later, he hears the sound of the deadbolt being unlocked, and the door swings open. A stallion in his late 30's stares at Nar from within. The look of recognition on his face slowly turning to horror as his eyes look past him. Nar watches as the stallion's eyes slowly begin to shift downwards. He knows what he's going to see, and he desperately doesn't want to. From within, a mare's voice approaches. "Who is it honey?" A head pokes out from over the stallion's shoulder, realization slowly dawning. "I'm sorry." Nar's voice is barely above a whisper. "I was too late." Suddenly, the mare's piercing wail fills the street. Nar gingerly places the sash, and hat in the father's outstretched arms. A stallion walking his dog pauses in the middle of the sidewalk nearby. Neighbors peer from windows, or open doors to investigate. Behind the father, his wife collapses in a heap of sobs, and tears. Tears fill the father's eyes, but he quickly turns, and falls upon his wife, wrapping her in a tight hug. Without another word, Nar reaches inside, and gently closes the door to give the two privacy. The moment Nar turns to leave, his legs begin to give out. He barely manages to ease himself down to sit on one of the porch steps. His head sags, and his arms come up for his hands to rest on his forehead. Nar sits on the step, simply staring at the concrete below him. The faint sobs of the mother from within a constant in his ears. Only after ten minutes does Nar finally gather the strength to stand, and leave. He still has to inform the scoutmaster, and the sheriff's office. #rp
