He blinks... View MoreSudden consciousness bids Nar's eyes to open. Slowly, his mind begins to process the world around it. It's dark. Likely early hours of the morning, but he can't see his alarm clock to check. He blinks the blur out of his eyes, but cannot blink away the sleep crust. He tries to move his arm to wipe it away, but finds his arm won't respond. He tries to lift his head, but it won't move either. Sleep paralysis? That's new. Might be best to just try to go back to sleep, but... There has to be a reason why he woke up so suddenly. It's what used to happen in the AHS when things got dangerous while he was asleep. His mind, and body have become accustomed to danger, to the point that his instincts kick in, even when he's asleep. Yet, his body won't respond to his brain's attempts to move it. His mind senses danger, but cannot move to investigate. A faint glow from the window catches Nar's attention. Though he cannot turn his head, he has a perfect view of the window. The glow approaches the window. He thinks he sees the window open. The glow moves inside, growing brighter as a result. Nar's brain sends all sorts of warning signals to the rest of his body. His heart begins to beat faster, and faster, but his body still won't move! A hand reaches out from the shadows. It's a pale blue-gray. Like the hand of a corpse. or... His own. Nar's breathing becomes rapid, and shallow. The glow moves closer, illuminating a face behind it. It's... It's his face, but cold, and calculating. Devoid of emotion. No! NO! Not him! Nar's brain fires off commands to every part of his body rapidly! He has to get up! He hast to fight! To protect himself, and his family! The hand reaches closer. Then, it passes over him. He's going for Autumn! No! I won't let you! All at once, Nar's body finally begins to respond. With a sudden roar, Nar flings himself off the bed at the intruder! He slams into the floor! The intruder must have managed to get out of the way! Nar swings a hook to his right, but only punches air. He tries to scramble to his feet, but he slips on the discarded comforter. A sudden series of wet feelings on his face give Nar pause. He blinks a few times, and finds his service dog, Rudo, licking his face. It... It was just a hallucination. After a moment, Nar drags himself up to a sitting position. He leans against the wall under his bedroom window, and pulls Rudo into a small embrace, where he curls around the small jack russle. He's going to need a moment to process this before he's ready to go back to sleep. #rp
