Asuka and her partner Frank find themselves able to enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning. Well, as leisurely as eating a bacon, egg, and cheese English muffin can be in an ambulance. For a while, the two discuss Asuka's last gig, and the surprising turnout. Well, Asuka was surprised, but Frank wasn't. "C'mon Asuka. You guys went on hiatus for just under half a year, and you STAYED at #2 on the charts the entire time. The only reason you haven't passed Dragonautica is because they had that whole 'change of heart' thing." Frank gestures with one hand as he talks. The other slowly moves his breakfast sandwich towards his mouth. "I know. It's just weird that there are so many other bands in the city, but people still chose to just keep listening to the 2 albums we have." Asuka then points her breakfast sandwich at Frank. "And don't knock Dragonautica. They may have been assholes, but their music has always been #1 material." Silence overtakes the cab of the ambulance for a minute as the two focus on eating. Frank is the first one to break it. "You know, I kinda miss your old stuff. You know, before the genre shift. I still listen to that little album you guys made all those years ago." A nod from Asuka tells Frank that she might feel the same. "Yeah. I loved playing our old stuff, but we weren't getting anywhere with it, and I was getting tired of playing at Stinkin' Steve's every week." "Yeah. I guess anyone would get tired of that before long." Just as Asuka is finishing off her sandwich, the cab's radio emits a few short tones, followed by an operator's voice. "Responder 434. We have reports of a fall on a construction site at Newgate and Kingsly. Construction worker fell from the 4th floor of a building under construction." "Copy Dispatch. We're enroute." Frank responds, before flipping on the lights, and sirens. He then puts the ambulance in drive, and the ambulance speeds out of the parking lot it had been sitting in. As the ambulance takes off, a vision dredges its way into Asuka's mind. A construction worker lays mangled, and bloody in the back of the ambulance, lightly gripping Asuka's leg as she does her best to patch him up. He knows he's not going to make it. He asks her to tell his family that he loves them, and then his grip weakens. For a moment, Asuka looks up at the roof of the ambulance, as if to look past it, and into the sky. 'Please monarchs. Don't let another father die in my care.' #rp
