Ev... View MoreIn her teenage years, Asuka was never good with goodbyes. She always found herself crying every time she had to say goodbye to friends or family if she knew she wouldn't see them again for a while. Even if that was just a few weeks. Yet now, as all of her friends from Vanhoover crowd inside Stinkin' Steve's for a sending off party for Attack on Mango, she doesn't so much as feel a twinge in her chest. Over near the bar, Steve's sobbing cuts above the conversation, and music. He clutches Nar tightly in a hug, sobbing freely into his shoulder. "I'm gonna miss you, nephew!" The older man sniffs, then stands to wipe his nose with a napkin from the bar. Nar reaches a hand out to pat Steve on the shoulder. "Aww c'mon Steve! I'm not dying! We'll come back to visit every now and then! Promise!" Nar offers a smile, and gives Steve's shoulder a light shake, which sends the older man into another fit of sobbing. Sat in a booth, Mandy, and Juno lean into each other as they enjoy each other's company for the last time in what could be weeks, if not months. As Mandy sits, her head laying on Juno's shoulder, they talk with the members of Dragonautica about their plans for the future. Dragonautica hopes to reach the national charts one day, and Juno eagerly encourages them to follow that dream. He knows they have the talent for it. At the bar, Cookie listens intently as Asuka's old ambulance driver, Frank, tells her (much toned down) stories about her auntie. She eats up every word, too enraptured to notice anything else going on around her. All around Asuka is a mixture of emotions. Happiness, excitement, and sadness. All in equal measure. Asuka finds herself spending her time with the girls of the band. Ruby, Scrappy, Deena, and a few other girl friends. Off in the distance, a glass of beer is raised into the air, and Artuo's voice calls above the noise. "A toast! To our friend's continued happiness, and health!" (Almost) Every glass in the bar shoots into the air with a "Cheers!" from every voice. Then, they all tip their glasses back, and the noise begins anew. Hours later, after the sun has set, and almost every adult in the bar has had more than their fair share of alcohol, it's time to say goodbye. Asuka, Nar, Juno, and Cookie all stand near the entrance to the bar as their friends file past to say goodbye individually. Artuo laments the loss of his favorite customers. Mandy tells Juno to be sure to call her every day, and Steeltrap practically threatens Nar if he doesn't come back to visit every so often. Then, after everyone else has left, but Steve, Ruby finally comes up to say her goodbyes. She wishes them all good luck, makes a few jokes with Nar, then finally, reaches Asuka. There are no words exchanged. Ruby simply leans in, presses her lips to Asuka's, and holds it for a moment. Asuka almost reaches up to grab Ruby, and pull her in. Before she thinks to do so, Ruby breaks the kiss. She looks as though she wants to say something, but opts not to. Instead, she winks at Asuka, then turns to leave. Asuka curses herself internally for not trying to stop her. All this romantic tension they've been building up, and neither of them had the guts to act on it! At the end of the night, Nar hefts a tired Cookie to his chest, where she promptly falls asleep. Then, he, Asuka, and Juno begin their walk back to their house for the last night's sleep they'll get in it. Tomorrow, a new chapter begins in their lives. #rp
