View MorePoppy children's party music backdrops the sounds of arcade machines, and excited children. The largest table in the dining area of Georgie's Pizzeria sits with party favors, and party hats ready as families slowly trickle in. Nar stands at the end of the table to greet every family as they arrive, while Cookie greets her classmates. Today was indeed a special day worthy of such celebration! Cookie is turning five! After all of Cookie's classmates have arrived, all of the children are sat at the table to don their party hats, and open their party favors. Nar did not skimp on any expenses for this party, and the other parents are distraught to see the amount of candy, and noisy toys he'd put in their favors. Soon, the table is filled with dish after dish of pizza, which child, and parent alike tear into. Sat at the head of the table with a special birthday hat, Cookie delights in all the excitement. Stuffing her face with pizza as she excitedly makes arcade plans with her classmates. They want to win her one of the expensive prizes for her birthday, and plan to pool their tickets to do so! Sat at a much smaller, circular table just beyond the main table, Nar watches on with his friends, and family. After spending way too long staring at the "Birthday Girl!" balloon floating above Cookie, Nar turns back to his table with a sniffle. Sat beside him, Asuka can see tears welling in the corner of his eyes. "They grow up so fast..." Nar whimpers, before throwing himself at Juno, sat beside him. He lets out a less than manly cry into Juno's chest as his best friend consoles him with a hug, and pats on the back. "There there Nar. She's still got 11 years before she turns 16." Juno's attempt to comfort his friend causes the slightly older man's head to jerk up at him. Tears stream down watery eyes as Nar cries "That doesn't make me feel better!" Asuka places a hand on his back to give it a gentle rub as she leans in. "Hey, take it easy Nar. The other parents are staring." Nar quickly pivots in his chair. His sobs silenced into an angry pout. "Let them! I'm not afraid!" After pizza, comes cake, and then, presents! The pile of presents is so large that Nar and Juno discuss plans of grabbing the band's tour van to bring all of them back to Nar's house. Beyond the expected toys, and such from her classmates, Cookie gets a few gifts from her family as well. She gets a little ukulele from uncle Juno, a children's baking set from her grandparents, a 'first responder' playset from her aunties Asuka and Hiari, and a lavishly expensive game console from auntie Ruby. By far her favorite gift however, comes from her papa. After all of the other gifts have been given, Cookie receives one last gift from her papa. On top of the half a dozen she received this morning! After opening the gift, Cookie squeals in delight before pulling a little straw hat out of the bag. She's quick to put it on, and show it off to her classmates! Now she looks just like her papa! Once the gifts have been opened, and the cake has been eaten Cookie and her classmates hurriedly exit their seats to head to the arcade. Nar helps some of the other parents chaperone the children, while Juno, and Kisho head to Juno's apartment to pick up the tour van. While Cookie and her classmates laugh and play, Nar can't help but think about the many childhood parties he attended, and had in this very pizzeria. He internally laments that the games no longer use tokens, or tickets. Something about seeing the giant reel of tickets you'd won at the end of the day was just so much more satisfying than seeing a number on a screen tell you how many you won. #rp
