Sat on a bench near the swings, Nar watches a... View MoreA cool breeze passes through Ponyville on a calm school day evening. In the playground of central park children laugh and play while parents watch nearby. Sat on a bench near the swings, Nar watches as Cookie runs, and plays with her new friends from her class. Other than the occasional words of encouragement, or to answer Cookie, he remains mostly quiet. The pleasant smile on his face as warm as the air in the park. A few minutes after Nar has sat on his bench, an older mare, likely in her 40's, takes a seat on the opposite side of the bench. The two briefly introduce each other, and point out their children. Turns out, she's a mother of two young boys, whom are currently playing in the jungle gym. After Nar points out Cookie, the mare lets out a gentle giggle. "Giving mom a break for the night?" Her tone is light, and playful, but the question REALLY strikes a nerve with Nar. She probably didn't mean to sound rude, but it certainly came off that way to Nar. Masking his annoyance, Nar responds to the mare in his usual polite tone. His smile only faltering for a brief moment. "No, actually. I'm a single father." This gives the mare pause. "Oh... What happened to her mother?" Internally, Nar groans. This isn't unexpected behavior for someone living in Ponyville. The people here LOVE their gossip. No matter how much they claim otherwise. For a moment, Nar considers how to respond. Figuring she'll just keep prying if he doesn't satisfy her curiosity, Nar decides to just go nuclear out of the gate. "Neither of her biological parents are with us anymore. I adopted her last year... After seeing first hand what happened to her mother." Nar glances over to the mare for a moment. The look on her face tells him she won't be bothering him anymore. The mare looks down at her feet for a moment, then coughs and utters a meek "Sorry" before she shuffles off to go annoy some other parent. Taking a deep breath, Nar calms his nerves, and returns to watching Cookie play. #rp
