One Week Later...

They always come for the wild ones They always come for the freaks They always come for the misfits like you Like you and me I'll take this moment like I own it Ain't seen the last of me 'Cause I will be the last one standing Walk through the fire, it takes me higher Ain't seen the last of me 'Cause I will be the last one standing A bike pulled up to the front of the local club, the beats bumping inside drowned out to the last few revs the bike was given before shut off. Dropping the kickstand, a mare would climb off of it and make her way into the club...

The news stations had been lit up lately about saying strange incidents. "Evening, folks! This is TrotNews with your latest! As we've been covering, a lot has been happening lately in the world. From a hospital bomb threat-" the hospital shown for a moment "-to a bright magic light filling the skies from the center of the Everfree Forest!-" a short video of the reflective and refractive beam lighting up the skies. "Coincidence or not, following these incidents there have been constant reports of a biker-dressed mare playing vigilante. What is strange is all fights aren't with tall ponies, but these shadowy figures that take the form of innocence! "No one is sure who she is as her visor is dark, but she has shown that it's hard to trust anyone! A few things have been noted about these figures. For one, no one can harm them but her. They don't take bullets. And even some top magicians are at a loss. "The mare in question," a slender, fully dressed pegasus with a floating gem above her helmet. Her wings were hidden under wing-bling. The only other odd thing was the orb attached to the back of her outfit, and the feathers sewn into the sleeves of the outfit. As seen in a displayed image. The caster continued, "seems to be able to recognize threats and take them out. She won't speak and will not stay at the scene. Though some have noticed when her uniform is damaged, she looks almost like a Crystal Pony. Speaking of Crystals, officers are still looking for the missing mare, Crystalline Passage, who had gone missing not long after the beam of light appeared. Is it connected? "Or, is something else going on. Come back-"

The beats in the club were going hard, and it was hard to focus on the ponies dancing around each other and pumping their fists. That didn't stop the mare, though. Most paid her no mind, used to folks showing up in unique outfits, or almost nothing at all. Her uniform has glowing stripes, since of which that lined her helmet. The visor a pearlescent of blues and purple. Her eyes were hidden. She'd step to the center of the floor, raise a hand, then punch the floor. A sphere of magic would explode outwards. No one would notice it, except for the shadows that lit up like Hearts Warming Trees. The helmeted pony looked around at each one before the place exploded... And the beat dropped. She'd start out with flipping around the first one, cracking it with her elbow... And it evaporated. One down. The rest were alerted instantly, and she'd flip over one as it ran towards her, firing a blast of magic through it, and destroying two at once. Three down. Many more to go. For one instance she'd take the orb from her back, nod at it, and send it flying around the room. At high speeds it'd bust through many of the Phantoms. The many fell with only a few morphing back together. Each figure growled, and begin spewing their seeds of hate. With a spin the pegasus would turn to face the next three. One of which showing it's true form, and the bright red glow of its body signaling that the party was over. The crowd caught on and bolted for the door. In the chaos the pegasus had taken out the three. The red one exploding into a mist as a beam of magic struck it. Six down, almost done. Her limbs were getting sore, and she was slowing down. With energy fading so did the magic, but it didn't matter as long as she got the remaining phantoms. Enough for the ones who remain. The club would be emptied, except the shadows, or rather, Phantoms, with one red Demon left. One charged at the biker, who'd take out their knees, roll over their back, pull the knife from their belt and throw it towards another. Normally it'd just pass through, but she'd touched it with magic. With a flick of her wrist the last would fall. Two left...just two more to finish. A Phantom and a Red Demon. Another one taking up the muse of her deceased beloved. Of a red mare that she'd wanted to save...

1 week ago... Crystal tried to get into the hospital. She tried to save Berry. The news was on, and she'd caught the bomb threat. In the end shed be unable to save her, not even see the truth. To her the bad guys had won, and no one told her. The cracks has already begun forming, but this time in her heart. The words begun to echo in her head. Failure. Weak. Ignorant. Useless. As tears streamed down her cheeks she'd turn and leave... Everything she loved was gone. ... All except her destiny. Finding home. Unraveling ghosts of her past. So she set off, not looking back even once. Her failure that day was too great. Even if she knew Strawberry lived, it'd not change her mind. She failed to be there as she promised, and now she was a liar, and she hated lies. She hated herself. On that day she'd learned so much about her past that's it'd seem to be too much. A few hours later the sky lit up. A few more hours later and she was weakly walking back towards home... A home she didn't know was still hers. With a stop, Crystal turned and took a detour. Instead heading towards the odder corner. Places of shops and like buildings. One of which caught her attention the most. Shadow's Antiques. Meeting Shadow was...odd... But she needed something to hide herself, as her older sister would say. "Protect your identity. Protect yourself. Enchanted armor may help... And I know a guy." It took a day, and night, but by the next day she was ready. But it wasn't like she learned how to fight over night, and Shadow didn't train her. No... With Agnes she had a few extra tricks up her sleeve. The motorcycle would be borrowed daily to reach her targets, Shadow giving her magical advice on how to find them...where they may hide. Her sister, Agnes, could help track them but only once a day. Same with some spells. She could check a small area with the sphere magic, but only once a day. Otherwise, an enchantment on her visor would allow her to determine them but only up close.

For the first time in the long week she'd speak out, pointing a finger at the Red Demon. "Faker! Let her rest already and STOP SHOVING IT IN MY FACE!" Blinded by anger, she'd not notice the lack of glow in this one. She'd take off towards the Demon, blindly. "You're. Not. Strawberry "Berry" Cream !"

So this is what death felt like. Splitting pain that exploded through the body for an instance. The drowning feeling accompanied by the sensation of floating. Darkness that completely enveloped the world. Like a never ending tunnel. At one end, the bright white light, the bottom a cascading void. So death was akin to being in the void..? Suddenly the fall stopped. There was no more movement, no sound, not even an echo. Just quiet. Then, the tunnel flipped horizontal, and a figure moved out of the darkness. Seemingly cutting through the black with just his steps. He stopped in front of Crystalline and sighed. "Welcome to the void. This is my domain. My name is Void Muddle." The stallion shifted his gaze to the white light at the end. "You aren't alone, filly. You've got a long way to go before it's your turn to be enveloped by eternal slumber. Everyone who died falls through stages. The first is looked over by the Night Watcher of Equestria. The void by me. And the Shell by...well, no need to say now. I've stopped you here because you aren't ready to die, little mare. You are to be awaken. "Before you were born, your mother and older sister made that crown." Crystal slowly reached up, realizing she was some sort of ethereal being at the moment, and felt the crown. "But...I don't have an older sister." "You do. Agnes. The first of your siblings to live, and the first to be trapped. She willingly gave up her soul to create that crown. Her magic, unlike most others was pure. The floating crystal horn on her head is the center gem of that crown you wear now." "Willingly?" Crystal asked, looking the crown over. "My mom didn't let me willingly leave!" Void sighed. "Listen-" "If she had let me stay maybe I could have fought! Maybe I'd be stronger, maybe I-" "ENOUGH! Listen to me now. You were cast out for this moment. You can't save ponies, but you can save yourself and your family. The shadows outside want your energy. You must destroy them. Your mother left you with this task as she'd never had the strength herself. Even with Agnes." Another mare spoke into Crystals mind, but didn't show herself. "Crystal. Mother trusts you with this. I do too. You are the only Gempony left that can end this curse. I will help you. My magic and advise is at your disposal. Your sisters will also do everything in their power once they know what's happened." Crystal slowly squeezed the crown against her chest, remaining silent for a moment. Then, she'd place it back on her head. "Remember, Crystal," Void continued, "you must not shatter. If you break, they win, but I'm sure the ponies out there will do what they can to protect you." Crystal was no fighter, she wasn't a hero, or strong, or fast. She was a danger to herself, ignorant, and helpless. Until now. Now she wasn't some useless mare. She had something to prove her strength, and would use it until it's all over. -- The skies of Equestria lit up that moment, a beam of energy blasting into the sky and filling the cyan world above with a crystal glow that went on for more than a few miles. Canterlot could nearly see it. If not further. Once the beam ended, Crystal stood tall with a bat bent over her head. She spread her wings, the crystals glowing, and with a floating horn where the crown once was. A beam of energy shot out from it, eviscerating the fake sister and striking another shadow behind her. The fake red demon backed away, the bat vanishing. "No...no!! Run, my children! Spread!" Crystal took hold of the red one as the rest escaped. "You...aren't....her..." A spark of electricity from her gemstone horn and the red demon was no more but ash. ---- Not long later she collapsed, having made it to the end of the cave. The glow fading away, and the horn returning to it's place as her crown. She stepped out slowly, and collapsed to the ground with a hefty thud. The orb fell on top of her. Luckily the burst of energy was enough to scare creatures away. Everything happened in a blur and there was still plenty more to be said, but for now...now she needed to rest. Part 5 will be the end.
